If you want to talk their cute, floppy ears off, they listen. If you want to sit quietly, they’ll snuggle up.  They just want to be a part of your life and make you happy. What’s not to love?

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫

Getting ready to hit the road with your dog? Whether you’re just going for a short drive around the neighborhood or taking a longer road trip, it is important to take basic precautions to help make it safe for you and your dog.

Although there are no clear laws about whether your dog should or should not ride in the front seat, it is recommended that they are put in the boot or back seat. If it is necessary for your dog to ride in the front, be cautious that the airbag can do damage if it's deployed.

So, here are 3 safety tips to keep in mind when you are out and about with your dog.

1️⃣ Buckle Up: Seat Belts for Dogs - Just like their pet parents, dogs should buckle up on the road! The safest way to transport your pups is to secure them with their very own seat belts or dog car harnesses. Not only does a seatbelt confine your furry friend, but it keeps them safe in the event of an accident—which could severely injure or kill an unrestrained dog. You can purchase these on Amazon or pet stores.

2️⃣ Crates: A cozy home for the road - Before you put your dog in a crate, make sure to desensitize them to it first. Not every dog is going to willingly enter the crate. It is important that your dog feels safe and comfortable in the crate. When crated in the car, your dog can snuggle up safely and ride in comfort. If your dog barks at other dogs or triggers out the window, you can cover the crate up with a blanket to encourage calm and quiet

3️⃣ Window – Allowing your dog to enjoy some fresh air is good and it is also better for those dogs that experience car sickness, however, never roll your window down all the way. It is a safety hazard and a freak accident waiting to happen.

⚠️ Don’t forget to take breaks if you are on a long road trip, your dog needs car snacks, water, and potty breaks, just like you do. Make water readily available to your pup to avoid dehydration. Meals, treats, and chew toys are great distractions for a busy dog in the car, so long as your pet isn’t prone to car sickness.

🌵 Cat Tree / Scratching post - Cats need to scratch and enjoy scratching. Providing your cat with a scratching post will reduce the chances of your cat using your furniture or carpet

🐾 Interactive toys - Cats love to play hunt and toys like feathery or string wands , laser pointer are great ways to keep them entertained and satisfy their prey drive. Rotate toys to avoid boredom.

🚮 Litter Tray - cats instinctively want to bury their urine and f***s by pushing around sand to help to hide their scent from predators and other cats. Using a litter box with sand-ish litter just comes natural to house cat, so choose a litter box based on your cat's size and clamping unscented sand type litter

🥫 Food bowl - choosing a right bowl for your cat is important, this is to avoid whisker fatigue. Opt for a shallow bowl or dish to make it comfortable for your cat. It is recommended to use stainless steel or ceramic for hygiene purposes.

🌿Catnip - all cats are drawn to catnip and it is quite comical to watch them having some fun. The leaves and stems of the catnip plant contain an oil called "nepetalactone'' which stimulates a scent chemical called pheromones. It is the chemical reaction that gives the cat a sense of euphoria or overwhelming happiness.

Choosing the right toys for your dog depends a lot on your dog's age and personality. Here's a quick guide on how to shop for your dog's next toys. What's your dog's favorite toy? 🐶

1. Chewy toys: These toys are suitable for younger pups that are teething so toys with softer rubber or plush, snugly fabrics, would be a good fit to keep them occupied and to satisfy the urges. Make sure to choose toys based on the size, durability and safety; and be sure to stock up if you want your favorite sneakers untouched. 😄

2. Squeaks and noisy toys: These are great for getting dogs attention and to promote interactive play. However, these are not recommended for dogs who prefer rough play as the internal 'squeaker' could be dangerous if swallowed.🧸

3. Ball is life! 🥎: The most popular and affordable toy by far is the humble tennis ball. This is a great option for a game of fetch to keep your dog active. Ensure that the ball is the right size for your dogs mouth (as a general rule, it should not be able to fit wholly into your dog's mouth), and also the right durability and texture depending on the roughness of your dog's play.

4. Plush or Rope: There are many textures and materials available for dog toys, and the enjoyability is mostly dependent on your dog's style of play. Plush toys might seem appealing however these are normally ripped apart by bigger dogs in a matter of seconds. Rubber toys are very durable and chew-friendly, and rope toys can also stand a few tug of wars.🦴

5. Treat dispensing: toys that combines the best of both worlds and also offer ways to train and enrich your dog. Kongs remain popular because they can potentially keep a dog occupied for hours with mental stimulation. Try treats that are healthy and natural; like home made training biscuits, small pieces of jerky or xylitol-free peanut butter 🥜 for very rewarding play.
