Molly • 16 year old mini 🎀 • 37 inches tall
Molly has been there done that in the world of being a beginner kid’s pony. She has seen many kids in her 16 years of life and helped them learn the basics of horse care (brushing, petting, hoof picking), leading, tying up, tacking up, and riding while helping them build confidence with her gentle and easygoing nature.
Molly came to me as a refresh project as she had a couple years off to enjoy life in the yard, and now it is time she finds a little boy or girl to show the ropes of horse care and riding and be loved on by.
I have ponied Molly off one of my full size horses and she did well. Mom or Dad could easily pony their child around the farm from their big horse. Molly’s favourite thing to do is walk. She will trot if she has to but really she just wants to plod along at a walk.
To my knowledge, Molly has never been ridden ba****ck. I was also told she has never foundered. She’s a sturdy little pony and could definitely lose weight but she is nowhere near fat. However with her being a pony she is prone to becoming a balloon and foundering, so it is recommended she either wears a grazing muzzle or is kept in a dry lot of sorts.
She was last trimmed on May 10, and did very well with the farrier.
Molly gets along well with other horses, she currently lives in a pasture with 7 full size horses and a foal and she has never been picked on by them. She is an excellent companion for the big horses.
Molly’s only vice is she can be a bit hard to catch. I leave a halter on her in the pasture to make it a bit easier on myself, and she will come for treats and scratches. However I do think the more she is worked with the better she will get over time. Having her in a smaller area will also help.
I am selling Molly as a lead line horse. I don’t believe she has ever been ridden by herself. I have worked with her on some basic steering and she is picking up on it but it does seem to be new to her. However, I will continue working with her on it until she is sold.
I have tons of photos and videos for interested parties. I would love to see her in a home where she can teach a little kid all the ins and outs of horse care and start their riding career.
Molly can also come with her tack.
