Little things that make your pet Happy, Safe & Healthy.
"Pets are very intelligent and affectionate. They will always communicate to you in the way they know best and you should be able to decode their jargon."
1.Food quantity and timing- There are several guides to achieve this. First you could use a formula or the pet food calculator which majorly considers the body weight, activity of the pet and age. You could also follow the instructions on the package label of commercial food. It is therefore imperative to know the correct amount of food that satisfies your pet since a general measure or it's comparative will not apply to the related type of pets.
2. Stress management- Our pets just like any other animal and human beings undergo stress. This could be caused by various factors including boredom, disease conditions, imbalanced food, uncomfortable situations, mistreatment and unfavorable environmental conditions. Pets express stress in various ways including shading fur, being timid and hiding from people, aggression and signs of attack in defense, wailing and meowing frequently, emaciation and lack of activity among others.
If you notice these signs it is important to identify the stressor and address it effectively.
3. Pet numbers control- Do not allow your pet/s to mate without prior concise knowledge of the consequences. If you have a pet and after consultation with your vet you realize that you do not need it to breed, please neuter it to be on the safe side. If you do not it will somehow get a partner and mate when there is signal of heat in their vicinity.
4. Handlers on pet care- It is very important to do a thorough orientation to new workers in your home who will take care of your pet just like you will do concerning a baby. Some workers in our homes may not have a proper knowhow, passion and courage to manage our pets. This may result to beatings of the dog and may cause serious trauma affecting the comfort of your pet at your own home.
Orientation makes them aware of the feeding and cleaning of utensils routine, it also lets them know when and how to clean and empty their litter, they also learn disease observation and most importantly makes them feel comfortable and love the pets.
5. Feeding behavior- It is paramount to train your pet on good eating behavior over time by presenting to them what you desire for them to feed on. This is important in that your pet will not eat anything else except as usually presented. Therefore issues of malicious people baiting your pet will not arise.
When all these and many other small but critical bits are observed to the latter, our friends at home will enjoy a nice and comfortable stay with us always and will become truly man's best friend.
