of sitting out on the sand to watch
the moon rise. It’s full tonight.
So we go

and the moon rises, so beautiful it
makes me shudder, makes me think about
time and space, makes me take
measure of myself: one iota
pondering heaven. Thus we sit, myself

thinking how grateful I am for the moon’s
perfect beauty and also, oh! how rich
it is to love the world. Percy, meanwhile,
leans against me and gazes up
into my face. As though I were just as wonderful

“See this moment? I’ve never experienced a moment like this.” The moment Shanna is describing is when her son met his new service dog for the very first time and she realized their lives were about to change.

They had just travelled thousands of miles to meet Tornado and Shanna wasn't sure how her son with autism would react to the dog. But this photo, snapped by 4 Paws Ability, the organization that trained Tornado, encapsulates everything that the dog promises not only to the boy but to his mother as well. Shanna, overwhelmed with happiness and emotion, covered her mouth as she watched her son lay his head on Tornado.

Shanna wrote of her reaction and about how her 5-year-old son (at the time) had been struggling to make a friend, any friend, on the playground. But with Tornado he finally had one…”This is truly magic. Words cannot explain it."

Update: We are making progress on our renovations. This weekend we finished part of an update to our patio. We built a second set of stairs with fewer steps so our elderly pup and any elderly pup can go to the backyard from our patio 🐕🐾 Today with this beautiful weather we are landscaping 🙌☀️ I'll be sure to share more when it's all finished 😊 we are still planning to reopen the first week of March. Until then hope y'all have a lovely week!
