Prevent costly issues down the road! 💸
Regular massage therapy for your horse is so important for their well-being, not just a luxury.

🐴 Regular treatments are needed to truly address imbalances and prevent future problems. Horses face new stresses every week, whether from work, competition, or simply messing around in the field.
Massage = Essential maintenance!

👐 Skilled therapists help maintain flexibility, range of motion, and muscle tone.

🥶 ❄️ It’s the time of year I’ll be massaging with rugs on, I will continue to work around this, I will move a rug to work on an area and then re-cover before I move on to the next. It's important to keep muscles warm during and after a massage, especially in these freezing temperatures 🥶❄️

❄️ Winter Tips Series for Horse Owners ❄️
When do I need to book my next bodywork session? 🙌

Every time you groom your horse it's an opportunity to assess their physical and mental well-being. Here are some key aspects to pay attention to:

🐎 Response: Observe how your horse reacts when you approach and brush them. Are there any areas of their body that they seem guarded or sensitive about? Are they attentive to you or more focused on their surroundings? Take note of their facial expressions—do they appear relaxed or tense?

🐎 Energy: Assess their overall energy level. Do they seem lethargic and drowsy? Are they unresponsive or disengaged? Alternatively, are they highly alert and restless, displaying heightened excitement or nervousness?

🐎 Muscle tone and texture: Feel the tissues under your hands as you groom. Are they smooth and consistent, or do you notice any lumps or irregularities? When you brush, do the tissues readily conform to the pressure or do you encounter resistance? Is the skin supple and movable, or does it feel dry and stuck?

🐎 Stance: Observe how your horse prefers to stand. Do they rest a particular leg or shift their weight unevenly? Are their cannon bones (the long bones of the lower leg) vertical, or do they appear camped under (set too far back) or out behind (positioned too far back)?

🐎 Legs: While picking out their feet, note if their legs pick up evenly or if there are any discrepancies. Does one limb appear heavier than the other?

These observations provide valuable insights into your horse's well-being and can help you identify any potential abnormalities that may indicate stress or tension. Familiarising yourself with your horse's regular patterns and behaviors can be immensely beneficial when deciding if your horse is due to see your Qualified Massage Therapist or other Professional.
