We are an Alexander based rescue group made up of volunteers that strives to help reduce the number of loving companion animals that die each day in local shelters due to lack of space and lack of a suitable home. We do not take in owner-released animals, but focus on helping unclaimed animals and reducing the pet overpopulation number through our relocation program and numerous spay/neuter programs.

A very sad day here. Noko, our eldest at 17 1/2 years has left his Earthly body. We will miss him terribly as he’s been with us since 2010. He’s gone to the Bridge to play in the Meadow with those that preceded him. Run free my dearest Noko. We shall meet again and cross the Bridge together.

A friend in Sugarland happened to trap this kitty, a female orange tabby which we all know is a rare kitty. At first it was thought she was feral, but she is NOT feral! Just two days after getting trapped, she gave birth to four beautiful little orange kittens. my friend is looking for a home for Little Mama and/or one or more of her kittens. BY CONTRACT, SHE MUST BE AN INSIDE KITTY.

If you are in the area and would love to adopt, please let me know and please pass this on.

UPDATE:
Little Mama now has a name, Harley. She is looking for her furever home. so, if you know anyone looking for a sweet kitty, who will soon be spayed, please let me know. Also, we are looking for homes for her kittens. Possibly three boys and a girl – it’s too early to tell just yet.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHERS. she is in Sugarland area (Houston TX)

If interested, please message me and I will get you in contact with them!

For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Companion Connection. I've chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you'll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Companion Connection below.
Companion Connection was formed to assist in the rehoming of companion animals into homes fully committed to lifetime care. We are an Alexander AR rescue group that strives to help reduce the number of loving companion animals that die each day in local shelters due to lack of space and lack of a suitable home. We strive to improve the lives of abused, abandoned and neglected companion animals. We are committed to ensuring humane care and treatment of all animals, protecting the public health and welfare of the citizens of Saline County, through education and enforcement of law
100% of your donation goes directly to the care of the ten cats currently living in the sanctuary. Many of these cats have been cared for by Companion Connection since 2009. When we moved from Texas to Arkansas in the late Fall of 2019, they came too. We converted a skid building into a beautiful cat habitat with full insulation, heating and air conditioning. They have a nice size yard completely fenced in so predators cannot get in. Many of the cats are seniors, two being diabetics. Therefore, they all receive the best food, all necessary medications and routine veterinary care.
Our rescue mission has been on hold since the move to Arkansas because of getting the “cataminium” ready, settling in, then the pandemic hit. 2020 has been hard on us all and with your help, 2021 will be better!
Your donations are tax deductible as we still are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Thank you for whatever you are able to give.

Wow! The kitties just received 4 new beds for Christmas! All I know is "Paula" went to our Chewy Wish List and sent us 4 beautiful and oh-so-soft beds! I'm waiting until Christmas Eve to sneak them into the sanctuary! Won't they be surprised.

Paula, thank you so much for making Christmas special for the kitties this year!

And while I'm saying thank you;
A big thank you to Bob and to Therese for their donations too! I'll be ordering Yeowzz catnip bananas (their favorite toys) for certain! The kitties are busily pawing their wish lists! How, you ask? Why they kick out litter dust and then write in the dust! They are smart little rascals!

Thank you all for supporting Companion Connection. Your generosity warms our hearts.

Cindy passed away this morning around 6. I found her under a parsons table outside, still warm, but gone from this Earth. Her spirit is free and she is with the others that I shall someday greet at the Bridge and we will all cross together.
I am at peace knowing she felt better this last week and was able to enjoy the outside again. I thank the doctors at Shackleford Road Veterinary Clinic for giving her this time with her clowder and with me.

Please hold Tippy and I close to your hearts this evening... he will be going to the Rainbow Bridge as I cannot watch his decline any longer. The fundraiser only received $20! I am totally grateful for that donation however it is a far cry from the $1,000 needed for a CT Scan. I truly believe his quality of life has diminished to near zero. This morning, I found him stuck behind the litter box. I got him out and placed him in his carrier for breakfast and he immediately lost bladder control. After cleaning him and the carrier, he did eat a nice breakfast. But did not leave his carrier when he was done. (I put him there so the others let him eat in peace and don’t steal his food.) His good moments are few and far between. And if it were me, in those few good moments, I’d plead for a graceful exit.

I love you Tippy. I’ll be with you as much as possible today and I will hold you close this evening as we say our prayers and you leave this world. 💜🙏🏻🐾

Needing prayers, positive vibes, thoughts or whatever for Tippy. His pacing has not stopped but a new problem has surfaced - when he first wakes up, he has no balance! He can barely walk. As time goes on, his walking improves, but he’s a drunken sailor. The vet has checked bloodwork and everything is right on! We’ve tried antibiotics in case there was an inner ear infection that didn’t show in the blood. Steroids didn’t change anything either. I’m going to see if we can afford a CT scan to see if there is anything that will show up. Tippy is only 9 years old. Too young for this. To know his bloodwork shows no hint of cancer or infection and his organs are all functioning well leaves us with such a mystery. My heart hurts so much. This video is when he is doing well!

This morning we took Tippy and Kiki in for follow up vet checks. Tippy seems to be losing his eyesight yet the medication he was taking is slowing it down. He may have the start of dementia as he paces a lot. Losing a tenth of a pound a month even though he’s eating his wet food ravenously (not so much dry food). I know the time when we look at his quality of life is near...but not today.

Kiki had extensive dental work done February 4th however his sneezing continued. Sadly, it turned out not to be the effects of the abscessed teeth (that were removed) but a nasal tumor. An inoperable tumor.

Coronavirus protocols in place at the hospital would not allow clients inside the building. Instead, we called upon arrival, got checked in and a technician came out and took the boys inside for their exam. Once we learned about Kiki’s diagnosis, and approved sedation, they brought him back out to us in the car. He was pretty out of it, but he seemed to know it was me talking to him, telling him how sorry I was and that I loved him. I prayed and asked God to please take Kiki gently. Saying goodbye is never easy. I handed him back to the technician and asked her to promise to stay with him. She promised.

For the first time, I was not allowed to hold one of my babies as he passed.

Kiki has been with me since he was about 3-4 months old. He was always a kitten in my mind, not ten years old. Such a soft mew. A gentle boy. Together we beat histoplasmosis in 2017. It took months but he was a fighter. I never expected to lose him so soon.

I told him that Luke, Merlin and all the others that went to the Meadow at the Bridge before him were waiting there and they will play and play until the day I join them and we all cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Kiki, today my heart has a new break. I miss your precious face, that tiny mew and your gentle demeanor. Run free my dear boy. Run free.

UPDATE: Reunited and back home!! The mom sat out quietly for hours with Socks in a carrier next to her. He mewed...Nala mewed! And she slowly came out of the trees and up to her mom! It took a lot of time and patience but this shows it can be done!!

One of our adopters was walking her kitten on a leash when the kitty wiggled and slipped out of the harness. This happened yesterday, 9/4/19. Please watch out for Nala as her mommy is devastated and Socks wants his playmate back.

Update: She found a home. See below. Anyone able to take her in as an only dog? She needs love NOW!!!

Anyone able to take her in as an only dog? She needs love NOW!!!

A homeless dog, who has spent two years in a Texas animal shelter, no longer gets up to greet visitors because she is too sad to acknowledge them. The senior dog, Leela, once greeted visitors with a wagging tail and smile…but now she seems to realize that nobody is actually coming there to see her...
