Say hello to the sweetest, most cuddly brother boys, Shawn and Cory! Shawn has more black on his body and is the bigger of the boys. Cory is more white on his body, and a bit smaller. He also has what we call a "baby face."
Shawn and Cory were trapped as part of a colony being TNR'ed, but were too small/under the proper weight to be fixed. Instead of releasing them, and trying to re-trap them, we kenneled them until they were big enough.
At first, they were a bit spicy. At least Shawn was. He wasn't too sure about the humans who had trapped him and in his siblings in those scary traps and took them on lots of car rides until they had a safe place to stay. Cory however, was a mellow dude who was down for whatever. It didn't take long for us to realize though, that these boys had a special bond with each other! We figured since they had to wait out their surgeries, we might as well see if we could work our magic and get them to come around.
After some time with experienced fosters, we found that they were complete and total love bugs. Cory immediately was happy to socialize with humans. And after watching Cory and a little time gaining his trust, Shawn opened up too!
Shawn and Cory are vaccinated and neutered. Since we found that they would make excellent pets, we took them to a normal vet to avoid the ear tipping. They are also microchipped. They are both great with using either open top or enclosed litterboxes with pine pellet litter. They graze on dry food during the day and in the evenings, they split a can of wet food. This is their absolute most favorite time of the day and if you are late getting them dinner, they become quite vocal in reminding you that it is time to chow down!
Cory is a curious, brave guy. He will come right to you for pets, wrap around your legs, and melt in your arms when you pick him up. But he likes to investigate anything new and is very smart!
Shawn is a little more reserved and likes his routine. But he will also wrap around your legs and once he is comfortable with you, he enjoys being picked up and held and snuggled. He will often watch Cory's reactions to get a feel for new people and environments. He loves to have his back scratched and will flop onto his side and immediately start purring and making biscuits.
These guys love to play and they are really funny! They will chase around mice toys, balls, and run through their tunnel. Wand toys are also a must! They will sometimes get into a playful slapping match like typical siblings would. But never have any serious scuffles. In fact, once they have finished playing, they will plop down on their bed and wrap up in each others arms - super adorable!
These boys do great with other cats and kittens, and could easily be introduced to other cats in a home. They also do well with their human foster siblings who are 8 and 10. They have been around other small caged animals and aren't bothered by them. We have never had them around dogs, and are unsure how they would do.
These boys are so sweet, and we are so happy to have been able to rescue them and let them thrive together and get them ready for their next adventure of being spoiled house cats. They love each other so much. They will provide their forever family with lots of laughs with their silly, playful behavior. But also win you over with their cuddliness.
