These little fluffballs have got some PERSONALITY 😜🥰
What a sweet relationship between the puppies and our nanny dogs!
What a blast! So thankful for all these great young helpers! Puppy pictures aren’t as simple as pulling out a camera and capturing the cuteness in front of you. Unfortunately, newborn puppies are inherently both messy and delicate, which means the photo-shoot process begins long before the actual session!
First, the puppies must be recently fed, but not so recently that they will need to eliminate. And after their mom has stimulated them to eliminate (🤢) they often needs their tiny nails cleaned of gunk and dirt.
Next, the light box needs to be set up and warmed. This usually means at least one heating mat laid over the place where the puppies will be.
Most mom dogs will need to be distracted with an activity outside while we take pictures, since they can be distressed when their puppies are taken out of the whelping box. Thankfully, Rocket is cautious but trusting!
After assembling the puppies in the light box, it’s quite an art form to move them into place gently enough that they stay asleep without disturbing any of their sleeping siblings! Sometimes, we hold another heat mat over their backs to help them warm up and fall asleep. All the while, the photographer is taking every opportunity to catch a moment when they are lined up nicely and being still!
All in all, a few good photographs where 75% or more of the puppies are facing the same direction is a 2-hour process from start to finish!
Welcome, sweet pups!

POV: you’re a 4 month old poodle puppy who just discovered ping pong balls. The world is exciting!
Breeders have a foundational role in laying the groundwork for their puppies to mature into healthy, happy dogs not only in genetics and health testing, but also in the things they proactively teach their puppies.
These are 5 EASY things that all puppies should have a basic understanding of BEFORE leaving their breeder!
1. POTTY AND PLAY SPACE ARE SEPARATE
We do this with a combination of litter box training and backyard potty trips!
2. COMMUNICATE NEEDS AND WANTS POLITELY
As soon as puppies are beginning weaning and starting to be food motivated, we teach them that instead of jumping, whining, etc, they can “ask” by sitting and looking up at you. What a useful life skill!
3. THE WORLD IS SAFE, PEOPLE ARE KIND, DOGS ARE FRIENDLY
Here at THE Doodles, pups embark on daily “confidence curriculum” to build belief in their own abilities and build trust in their humans.
4. IT’S OKAY TO BE ALONE
Puppies should understand that not every hour of the day is going to a fun, friend-filled playground. Breeders should schedule times that puppies have quiet time as well as playtimes, and by 8 weeks puppies should have all practices individual alone time in closed crates.
5. TRAINING IS A FUN, REWARDING EXPERIENCE
Not every breed, and not every puppy, is going to be a trick dog or service dog, but every puppy should have learned that working with humans in the context of training is fun! Mike here is learning place with clicker training and treat rewards. Look how excited he is to have figured out what is expected of him!

This beautiful Sunny girl loves being a mama so much that she lets everyone else’s puppies climb over her and mock-nurse!
And July 18th she is officially due with her own puppies!
This litter will have some surprises! Who’s Your Daddy should be the theme name! Anton and Paddington were both used to sire this litter! Which dad will the puppies come from? It could be all from one or a mix.
Don’t worry, since we genetically test all puppies, we will know the daddy!
