We had an empty bed after the garlic harvest and my pumpkin seedlings failed, so we went to the garden centre and got some lettuce and kale. Slugs have already eaten quite a few though. We shall see if we manage to get any lettuce this year.

We have 12 baby rabbits! It is our first big litter of the year. Our does normally have large litters but so far this year they have only had 6 or 7 at a time and lost quite a few. Amazingly so far they are all being fed well and mamma has made a great nest.

Finally saw a butterfly! They have been in short supply this year because it's been cold and wet. But a bit of sun and they have emerged. We have seen a few cabbage whites and bees too, but definitely short on insects this year - apart from the mosquitos, we have had plenty of those.

Who's a handsome fella? It's Roo Roo our quail rooster. I swore I would never give names to our quail, but seems like he got named anyway. Not a very inventive name, but a name none the less! The girls might have accidently been named Mary and Martha.

Introducing our rabbits:
They are New Zealand White rabbits. They are about the size of a cat or small dog. Most people are surprised by how big they are when they first see them. They are intelligent and can be trained, they are also friendly and enjoy being made a fuss of.

This was a great surprise. A few years ago, perhaps about 4 years ago, we planted some raspberry plants under our holly tree hedge. We were hoping to have a food forest. I had given up on getting any fruit though because they berries never seemed to ripen. I thought they weren't getting enough sun. This year however, we have delicious ripe raspberries!

Our grape vine was in desperate need of a hair cut. We can now walk through the archway again. Most of this was composted because we ran out of drying space, but we are drying some to use as tea and turn into a tincture. The rabbits also enjoyed a bit of it for their dinner.

Garlic has got to be one of my favourite plants to grow. We save our own seed and are increasing the amount we grow year on year. This week I trimmed them and put them into storage. They have been drying in an empty rabbit pen for several weeks.

The chamomile is growing really well. We increased our number of plants ready for this year. We are now harvesting two or three times a week and drying the flowers in our dehydrator. Home-grown chamomile tea is delicious!

Remembering our pea harvest.

We haven't had a lot out of the garden this year. It is been so cold and wet and lacking sunshine that it has been difficult to get anything to grow. The peas were wonderful though.

What have you been successful in growing so far this year?

My mum, Clare and I (Hannah), have been busy beavering away making hot chocolate.

It is made with cacao, naturally sweetened with coconut sugar and enriched with maca and beef collagen. Our family have been enjoying this delicious drink for quite a while and we wanted to make it available for you to enjoy too.

Our Etsy shop is up and running. We would love for you to support our new venture. Come and follow us at Simple Beautiful Good
