Cats are becoming a challenge in our community. Causing excessive calls to public officials, property owners trapping and disposing of the cats and unwanted kittens with nowhere to take them.
Volunteers around Gooding Trap, Neuter and Release cats. Over time, this will help reduce the number of cats. Unfortunately, veterinary appointments are not easy to get. There is a vet shortage and the vets are overwhelmed. And lets face it, people are having to make difficult choices. Pay the cost of vet bills or housing and food for their families.
Building a cat sanctuary will provide many services to the community. Strays and surrendered cats will live in the sanctuary. Be quarantined, vaccinated and vetted. And made available for adoption while they live in the sanctuary.
There are future plans of microchipping, and sterilization programs.
The threat of infectious diseases that spread from animals to humans will be significantly lowered by disposing of the sick animals.
Many things will be taken in to consideration when deciding on the location for a cat sanctuary.
Any concerns about the sanctuaries impact on our community, building in a residential area, building near schools or businesses, as well as any other concerns the community has will be addressed.
The Communities input is an important factor in making the decision to build the cat sanctuary. As well as the general location.
