Bri's been struggling lately, so I walked out to check on her at lunch. I found five of the seven resting in the warm sunlight. Duke immediately jumped up to greet me at the fence. Franklin, Buddy, and Lafitte all sat up to see who was crunching in the grass. Bri didn't stir. When I approached her, her breath was shallow and she barely moved. She's been down several times over the last few weeks and has really struggled to get back on her feet. After discussing it with our vet, we've made the decision to grant her a peaceful passing. She's known nothing but love in her two years with us, and I'm thankful for every volunteer and guest who made that possible. The plan is to bring her in on Friday. I stopped and sat in the pasture after cleaning the dry lot this morning. Lafitte, our newest horse, approached and gave me a thorough sniff test.
