Met the lovely Vinnie today a very handsome ex racehorse who luckily for me his owner would like a little bit of help keeping him fit. It will also be good for me as I was quite puffed after just a short schooling session today. Definitely hasn’t been enough time in the saddle recently!

More exploring of muddy Cornwall on horseback today. So happy to share part of it with little helper no.1 joining me for our first ride together. He told me afterwards it was his favourite part of the day so maybe there is hope he will be a rider after all.
All good fun, even including my tactical dismount after getting wiped out by a low tree branch

Very far from a thoroughbred, very unmatching and still missing my chaps but very happy to have found horses to ride after a few months off. It’s been tricky with moving around a lot and having the kids at home full time and studying but making it work for a once a week trip out. It’s so nice being able to ride straight out on the lanes and onto bridleways here.
Annie Cob was more sprightly that she looked and we had a good couple of canters along the way

I have absolutely loved being back at the track recently after almost two years off. Thanks to Clotworthy Racing for having me back and getting me going again.
I stopped very early in my second pregnancy as I totally lost my nerve and literally gave up part way through a morning of riding in tears convinced that was my last ever ride on a racehorse because I was so terrified. After so long away I wasn't sure how it would go, but apart from not being able to walk for several days after my first morning back it's been great. No nerves at all and despite being a lot less fit than previously actually think I'm riding better than I ever have. Shout out to all the mums out there who have come back riding as it's not always easy. Now there will be a short break while we get set up in England, then hopefully will find some racehorses to keep me going while studying

Some exciting changes coming up! In less than 2 months time now I will be packing up everything (including the kids) and moving back to the UK for 12 months. As well as lots of family time and hopefully fitting in some riding there I will also be testing if my old brain still works and doing some studying. The plan is once I come back I will be fully qualified in Equine Massage and Rehabilitation and will be starting to offer bodywork services.
Very excited about learning a new skill and something I am passionate about.

Little play with Foxy for a friend today. Once I had convinced him he's actually not half llama he was super cute and I think going to be a cool horse when he's matured a bit

I've changed my mind about a lot of things with horses over the years and these days a firm believer in not using any lunging gadgets and letting the horse find their own balance. Here is 4 year old ottb Gucci lunging quietly in a headcollar in a large paddock. We ventured out of the arena today to use some gentle slopes to get himself working and balancing himself up and down hill without having his head restricted in a certain position and it worked a treat.

Soggy but happy after the opening meet with the Maramarua hunt. Grateful to have the ride on the wonderful Mickey (ex racehorse of course) who was very enthusiastic despite the weather and had fun jumping. That was the longest time I've spent in the saddle since sometime in 2022 so I'm just off to run myself a large Epsom salt bath!
