REGGIE V TOY PT 2This one was a little different! I saw some super shredders that did well with cabbage and thought I’d give Reggie a chance at it.Next time I’ll cut the top off - it was less shred and more CRONCH!And it lasted just as long (if not longer) than the last toy.I made sure to take away the larger pieces. No more than 10% of daily calories should be from treats. Plus, I was worried about the gas 💀#Veterinarian #veterinary #veterinarymedicine #veterinarydoctor #vettech #erdvm #emergencyveterinarymedicine

HEAT STROKE in dogs - there’s a lot to look out for! Not every pet experiences every symptom, but here are some good outlines.-excessive panting. Sometimes these dogs look like they’re hyperventilating because they’re working so hard to cool themselves down. -weakness/collapse. Sometimes this is progressive, sometimes it’s sudden. Many dogs don’t know their own limits and will play/work until they can’t anymore. -very red gums. Red gums can be indicative of a lot of different problems, but we can see dark red gums when these guys overheat.-vomiting-seizures-bruising. This is a SERIOUS sign and shouldn’t be ignored!*brachycephaly, laryngeal paralysis and other conditions can predispose dogs to heat strokeIf you think your dog is experiencing a heat crisis, remove them from the heat and start to cool them down. You want to make sure you don’t over cool them, so avoid ice cold water. Turn your AC on high as you head to the vet, keep them in the shade, etc. NEVER force feed water - if can lead to aspiration! And - as always - seek veterinary care! Even if it’s just for them to say “looks like we got a little excited, no signs of heat stroke!” It’s worth the peace of mind.
