The time has come once again for me to find some additional help around the farm! I know this is a *big ask* during the wintertime - but I know there is some dedicated horse lover who would love to work in a quiet, organized, and small barn environment!

The wonderful Allison has taken on an internship in South Carolina and she will be greatly missed as an asset to the farm!

Looking for someone to complete chores at least 3 - 4 days/shifts per week at a small, high quality Hunter/Jumper boarding and training facility. **Often including weekends**
AM Shift is about 3-3.5 hours total (stalls, etc)
PM Shift is about 1.5 hours (bring in/feed/blanket changes if necessary)
Including but not limited to:
- feeding, turning out horses, mucking stalls, etc. (11 horses)
- Ability to address/recognize minor medical needs, medicine administration, minor wound treatment, wrapping HIGHLY preferred.
*Must be 18+ years of age.
*Must have transportation and be *reliable* and flexible.
*MUST have experience with HANDLING HORSES of all types/temperaments & general equine care.
*Must be meticulous, cleanly, and uphold equine safety measures.
*Must be kind, courteous, and communicative with owner & boarders alike.
Potential for riding opportunities for the right candidate.

A staff member will be in the office from 9am to 11am on the 23rd, 24th, 26th, and 27th for medication pick ups, questions, etc.

As we enter Thanksgiving week in the US, many of your vets will be out of town or spending much needed time with their families.

It’s times like these that horse owners need to practice preventative caregiving.

During this holiday time, as an emergency only vet, I recommend the following:

- Don’t deworm your horse right now.

- Don’t start a new feed right now.

- Don’t get a new round bale of coastal hay right now if you’ve let the last one go to dust (give small amounts at a time or mix with a stemmy hay until they’ve had their fill, then give the round bale).

- Don’t change schedules.

- Don’t vaccinate your horse right now, especially if you have a known reactor.

- Don’t be in a rush and fail to soak your feed for long enough (choke risk) - especially if you’re late to feed due to holiday errands/get togethers.

- If you have visitors, limit treats. Ensure gates are closed. Make sure feed doors and bins locked.

There is already a shortage of equine vets - and the few we do have will likely be out of town or trying to enjoy the holiday.

Let’s all have a very Happy Thanksgiving. And let’s let our vets stay home with family!

Hi all!

Unfortunately due to various drop outs of attendees, the clinic has been decidedly cancelled. Lisa and I will look to reschedule sometime this Winter (December timeframe) or wait until Spring.

Apologies to the few who were still planning on attending - but without a full schedule, it makes more sense to reschedule.

That being said, in the future, I will be asking for a deposit from those interested to "lock in" their participation slot so that hosting clinicians can be of benefit to all involved.

Hopefully we can garner more interest from local equestrians next time around. Thank you all - until next time!
