Little tips along the way helped me fill in the gaps in medical direction. I figured them out, angels wrote me out of the blue, and fellow dog parents and friends collaborated to figure out solutions so Lulu could be much more comfortable and stable, especially during the tough moments. I’ve saved them all onto an extensive list I will share here.
♥️ I can’t stress enough how grateful I feel for our orthopedic supporting me to leave Lu at his practice for 3 more nights after surgery. They suggested it and I embraced it because I did live alone and… Im no nurse! lol They wanted to see her thru the immediate pain and physically gain enough strength to get up then I could take it from there. Great advice! It made it soo much easier for me to not worry as much.

When you aren’t sure, or your vet suspects other injuries, or a fungus, or is just not as confident about if it is osteosarcoma, just know the main 4 tests available to inquire more about with them and or seek a second opinion from a board-certified specialist. Just to name a few would be an orthopedic, surgical oncologist, neurologist, or another veterinarian.
There are more tests like a nuclear bone scan but the common options are these above. I just want you to know you have choices to get more definitive results so you can think more decidedly about what to do.
What you don’t have is time, unfortunately, which makes this strategy more challenging to make your best decision for a plan forward. 💕

While my backyard wasn’t the French Alps, Lulu still did her Great Pyrenees job of walking along the slopping terrain along the fence line and shouted out her protective call. “I’m here, I’m alive, and I’m able, so don’t even re-think about coming into my forest!”
It didn’t matter if she had three legs or four; she still enjoyed her sniffs and patrols as if nothing changed.
My best thought for you in trying to predict their quality of life is to know who your kid is, what they like to do, and what brings them joy, and then talk to your vet and Orthopedic to hear what they think they are able to do. The answer will come, the fear will be settled, and the sadness can change into courage and hope. Ultimately, we aimed for peace no matter what.

Halloween is coming! Who is going to be what this year? Any three-legged pirates?? I had the best time with Lulu, though I don't think she said it was her favorite time; I promised her the temps would drop like the Pyrenees Mtns and soon would make for good coffee treats!

BIG DOGS IN THE POOL!!! Ooh Lu in the pool…. anyone know about GPs and water? Not so much… thankfully Lu loved her PT! ❤️
The incredible transformation ya all was her front leg got thick with strength from building more muscle. 💥 We went weekly. I could see she could balance more easily, mobility was better and it was noticeable Lu could support her front weight load on her remaining leg much better. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
