Classes start Saturday January 13th.
My name is Wendy Greene and I have over four decades of dog training experience. As an AKC (American kennel club) certified instructor, you can be sure that I have the knowledge to work with all types of dogs. I've worked in rescue and rehabilitation, private training, breeding, and extensively with service dogs.

My training style is 95% positive, but I treat each dog and handler as an individual. As a special educator, I know that everyone, both dogs and people, have their own unique learning style. I have a large number of skills to draw on to help you and your dog achieve a happy healthy relationship.

Rest assure that safety is my primary concern. All dogs must provide an up-to-date shot record and puppies must be at least 10 weeks old.

I will offer a 12 week Canine Good Citizen Class starting Saturday January 13th from 1:00 to 2:30. This is for young dogs that haven't been trained yet or older dogs who are having difficulty staying calm and following directions in the presence of unfamiliar people and other dogs.

This class will cover the following topics; dog psychology, reading a dog's intention through body language, general house manners, potty training, crate training, toys and treats, socialization checklist, sit, down, stay, come, heal, leave it, greeting a friendly stranger, greeting a friendly stranger with a friendly dog, accepting petting calmly, accepting evaluation by a veterinarian, accepting grooming, staying calm in the presence of unusual sights and sounds, walking on a loose leash past another dog, through a crowd, how to recognize appropriate play versus bullying behavior separation anxiety, and generally how to understand and speak "Dog".

During this class we will use classic obedience exercises combined with fun road rally obedience courses and exciting agility challenges. You and your dog will have the opportunity to earn both your AKC Star Puppy Award and your AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification. Canine Good Citizen is considered the gold standard for dog training and will often earn you reduced rates on rent and homeowners insurance. It also prepares your dog for more challenging training as a Therapy Dog or even a Service Dog.

The cost for this class is $50 per 90 minutes lessson or $600 . If you pay in full by the first lesson I reduce the cost to $500. My goal is to motivate students to complete all 12 weeks so that you don't stop training before you have a full understanding of how to work in partnership with your dog.

I'm the only trainer I know that offers a guarantee for my puppy class graduates. If you and your dog aren't feeling confident after completing my program, I will give you up to three free private lessons to ensure that you meet your goals.

I will also be offering an 8 week intermediate class for dogs that have mastered the basic commands and are comfortable in the presence of other dogs. We will work more on agility, trick training, and behaving appropriately in various environments in our community. If you're interested contact me to schedule an interview.

If you prefer private lessons, I take on a limited number of clients whose dogs need one-on-one attention. A 90-minute session costs $100 if you and your dog come to me, or $120 to $150, depending on distance, if I travel to your home.

Whether you choose a group class or private lessons with me, rest assured that you and your dog will both be treated as thinking feeling individuals. Unlike the big box stores, I tailor my instruction to each individual handler and dog. I teach you to think like a dog trainer so you can work happily together, not only with this puppy, but with every dog that you partner with in the future.

I took five of the dogs with Quaid and I to go get some milk today. It's good to take your dogs on short trips in a car. It helps get them over any fear they might have of cars, and it will eventually cure them of car sickness. Oftentimes it's a combination of movement and anxiety that leads to upset stomachs. It's best not to only take your dog to the vet or the groomer. Both those places are very high stress environments. Take your dog to the park, or to a drive through with a pup cup or plain patty, or just on a 5-minute trip to get milk. 😊

FORGIVE ME, MOMMY 😢🐾…
I was there where you left me for two whole days. Sleeping right on the side of the road. I was terrified of the noise from the cars but I did not move.

Last night one of those cars stopped and she got out. She invited me to lunch but I said no. She invited me to come sleep at her house and I also said no. I tried to explain to her that I was waiting for you but she wouldn’t listen. She pulled out a leash and said I couldn’t stay there any longer. I bit her several times and ended up peeing on myself as I growled and cried! She didn’t understand that she was separating me from you! She took me against my will and we drove off! I was so sad because I knew you were going to be worried. We ended up at her house.

I kept screaming hoping you would hear me but you never came. I vomited because of my nerves, feeling so sick. I kept telling her I had to go back because you were going to think I abandoned you when you saw I wasn’t there! I, who love you with all my heart and soul have not stopped crying since we separated a few days ago. I want you to know, I would never do that to you.

I don’t know where you are now or why you stopped the car and left me there. Surely you had something very important to do. Can you come find me now, mommy?

Today I ate because my tummy was hurting. I also slept on a very soft bed. And by accident I also wiggled my tail a bit. I’m so sorry, please forgive me. She’s just being really nice to me. She said I could stay forever. She’s calling me Milo but I already have a name. When you pick me up you can tell it to her. You’ll see how surprised she’ll be when you explain to her that this was a big mistake.
Because mommy, you’re coming back for me, right 😢🐾?

Congratulations takiya and Malcolm. When you're just a few weeks old there's a lot to learn. But Takiya was persistent and patient with Malcolm's normal puppy silliness and sometimes being nervous in a world of giants. He is now a very confident and calm young man with his whole life ahead of him.

Congratulations to Jason and Sprinkles. When you're a tiny Chihuahua mix with the heart of a lion and the responsibility for watching over a herd of horses and checking out various other people who visit Equinimitie's campus, there's a lot of information to process. With Jason's help Sprinkles has gone from a reactive nervous girl to a calm confident guardian who greets people with a wagging tail.

Congratulations to Celeste and Daisy. Daisy lives with three children under 6. And we first met she was very nervous and shut down. She was even going to the bathroom and the children's beds in an effort to cry for help. She used to be afraid of both people and other dogs. Was Daisy's help, she now solicits petting from people and offers to play with other calm companions including her human siblings.

Congratulations Aditi and Akila. This is the most hard working team in our class. When you have an intelligent, energetic dog it's both a blessing and a curse. But with lots of hard work at Aditi helped Akila understand how to be a (relatively) calm companion. 😀

Reintroducing our 7-month-old surprise puppy Hercules who is looking for a forever home. Two months after his mom got him home she was diagnosed with serious health concerns. She was halfway through our AKC star puppy/canine good citizen class. She asked if we would be willing to take him back and find him a new home. Of course we said yes and continued his training until he earned both his star puppy and Canine Good Citizen certifications. He weighs about 40 lb right now. He will probably not get any taller or longer but he may fill out a bit as his muscles develop and his ribs spring. Send me a message if you're interested in adopting a demigod dog. 😀💖🐕
