Apwillow Border Collies - in honour of Shadow and Sweep
60 years ago I read “Shadow the Sheepdog”, a wonderful story about a black and white Border Collie and created the worlds most perfect dog in my minds eye but it was 10 years until I got my very own Cross-bred Border Collie, Sweep.
Keen to learn, we joined a very good dog training club and a year later we entered our first obedience competition and gained a second place in Novice.
Over the years I have bred the occasional litter of Border Collies to keep my self in dogs from the Royale line but since my retirement, I have tried to breed one litter a year.
Border Collies are beautiful to look at but can be difficult to live with, some simply do not have an OFF switch. They are ideal for Shepherds and Farmers because they are usually outdoor dogs. Having lived with some of these dogs in the house, it was the wrong environment for them.
