Less then 30 days from being wild
These Palomino Butte horses are so easy going! Here’s a pretty cool clip of Brandon watching the ducks from our walkabout.
Trailer unloading
Unloading so calmly like he’s done it a billion times
Building trust
Brandon update! He’s been doing amazing!!! We’ve been really focusing on building trust and working on the ground. I believe this is the foundation for building a strong minded, and confident horse. I’m really pushing him to think and not react. He’s proving to be a very calm and honest horse. He’s going to be a great boy for someone!
Brandon!
I have not had such a cuddly Mustang before! Brandon really leans into the face rubs and just adores the attention 🥰
First saddle!
Let’s GO BRANDON! I’m away at college during the week and come home on the weekends to work with Brandon so I’m overjoyed at the progress he’s making. I can really see him thinking through what’s happening and taking everything in stride. Love him ❤️
I want to give a thank you to Phyllis A. for making a donation towards Brandon’s feed bill!
Picking up feet
This was the first day I picked up Brandon’s feet and he took to it so quickly! I was able to pick them out with no problems.
A new life and a new name! Number 8285 of Palomino Buttes is now BRANDON!!!!!
Day 1! Coming Home!!!
This guy is so much bigger then I expected! He’s about 15 hands and seems to be well put together! He loaded very smoothly and was so calm unloading. I’m able to stand pretty close to him and feel that I’ll get a first touch pretty quickly!
There’s just something about watching them run 🥰
❤️ ❤️Happy Valentine’s Day from the bromance - Houdini and Snickers! ❤️❤️
More of handsome Houdini! We’ve had a pretty nasty ice storm here, just like most of Oregon, so he’s been stuck in his stall for a few days. He was very happy to get out and stretch his legs! I love how he comes and checks in with me after his run around the arena 😂
My year in review! Two amazing mustangs found new homes, finished OHSET and 4H, I turned 18, completed high school and started college. I’m beyond excited for 2024!! 🎉🎉🎉
This is right after he was running around the arena. He’s turned into such a sweet boy! 💙
Houdini’s feeling spicy! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ but yet so easily connects back up with me. He’s got a heart of gold!
7 months into his domestic life and he still amazes me everyday! He was feeling some 🌶️🔥🌶️🔥 but still soooo responsive to my voice cues!
I’ve been thinking a lot about my experiences training the last 3 mustangs and how each of them have been dramatically different. I can’t help but wonder about the next mustang’s personality and how I can improve my training with each session. Since I’ve transitioned to college, I’ve been riding on the IHSA equestrian team and have learned so much by riding random drawn horses for each competiton. I’m hoping to expand this knowledge to the next mustang and help it find an amazing home, just as Larry, Beck and Houdini have 💕
💙 Please enjoy this compilation of Houdini from start to finish 💙

Houdini doing trail! I was definitely nervous being the first one in and I think he felt that. It wasn’t as smooth as I hoped but you can see him thinking through the obstacles and completing them. Overall, I’m happy with how he did!
Last nights workout included some side pass work. It’s coming along nicely!
This is the trailer loading, picking up feet and being caught by a stranger in the round pen component of body conditioning. I’m very happy with how Houdini completed these tasks. He’s been so calm and has had a great demeanor during all of these horse shows.
