Houdini finished his quarantine in the US and is traveling to Germany today! I’m so nervous for his flight but I know he will be in good hands once he arrives to Carina Bo. Safe travels Houdini!!! ✈️🐴✈️

Brandon update! He’s been doing amazing!!! We’ve been really focusing on building trust and working on the ground. I believe this is the foundation for building a strong minded, and confident horse. I’m really pushing him to think and not react. He’s proving to be a very calm and honest horse. He’s going to be a great boy for someone!

Let’s GO BRANDON! I’m away at college during the week and come home on the weekends to work with Brandon so I’m overjoyed at the progress he’s making. I can really see him thinking through what’s happening and taking everything in stride. Love him ❤️

Brandon is doing great! He’s learning all about pressure and release and and getting more and more comfortable with things touching his body. He’s still pretty sensitive with his face so that’s something we are going to be focusing on in the coming days.

This guy is so much bigger then I expected! He’s about 15 hands and seems to be well put together! He loaded very smoothly and was so calm unloading. I’m able to stand pretty close to him and feel that I’ll get a first touch pretty quickly!

Houdini had his last hoof trim with me. He’s off to his new home soon. Thank you to Lillian Wenham’s Farrier Service for always taking such good care of Houdini’s feet!

I really had my heart set on a gelding for the upcoming Mustang training event! Since I had an early pick and a gelding/mare mixup, the awesome people at Teens and Oregon Mustang Challenge and Kayce at the Burns corral were able to get me a gelding!!! Here he is! He’s from the Palomino Buttes HMA and is a 5 year old.

This is my first Palomino Buttes Mustang and I’m very excited about him! I’ve heard that these mustangs are gentle and very willing!

As for the little mare, I feel soooo bad but I’m hopeful someone will be able to pick her up! I’m offering my support and will be her biggest cheerleader!

More of handsome Houdini! We’ve had a pretty nasty ice storm here, just like most of Oregon, so he’s been stuck in his stall for a few days. He was very happy to get out and stretch his legs! I love how he comes and checks in with me after his run around the arena 😂

My year in review! Two amazing mustangs found new homes, finished OHSET and 4H, I turned 18, completed high school and started college. I’m beyond excited for 2024!! 🎉🎉🎉

I’ve been thinking a lot about my experiences training the last 3 mustangs and how each of them have been dramatically different. I can’t help but wonder about the next mustang’s personality and how I can improve my training with each session. Since I’ve transitioned to college, I’ve been riding on the IHSA equestrian team and have learned so much by riding random drawn horses for each competiton. I’m hoping to expand this knowledge to the next mustang and help it find an amazing home, just as Larry, Beck and Houdini have 💕
