Are you new to AKC Rally? Don’t know if you should sign up for the A or B classes? Then check out these slides for an overview of what to sign up for! I originally created these for Instagram, but it’s good info for everyone to have 🥰

One thing I didn’t expressly say in the slides is that you need the lower level title before you can move forward. So you have to get your Novice title before you try Advanced, you need your Advanced title before you try Excellent, and you need your Excellent title before you try Master. The Intermediate class/title is optional. So you don’t *have* to get it before you move to Advanced, but it is nice if you want more practice competing on leash.

I hope this helps you figure out what class to sign up for if you give AKC Rally a try. I know how confusing it can be to wade through so much new information when you first get started.

It's that time again, time to sign up for my Rally class! This session will be 4 weeks long as I try out a new format. You can either sign up for the full 4 weeks OR just one as a drop-in!

Ring Ready Rally is a class geared towards people who want to compete/trial in Rally Obedience. I welcome anyone who wants to come practice full courses and get feedback. The focus will be on polishing your dog's behaviors and practicing the key Rally skills for competition readiness.

Little time will be spent on teaching behaviors in class, (you would have learned them in your novice Rally class) we will focus on perfecting these behaviors and practicing the courses. We will implement various games and drills to proof behaviors and keep things interesting.

You do not need to know the specific Rally signs, as they will be demonstrated in each course we practice. We will use signs from all levels of Rally, from Novice to Master in this class.

Does your dog ever annoy you because they're just being *too* much? You aren't alone! Many people who sign up for Rally are looking for ways to tire their dogs out. By the end of class each week, your dog will be nice and tired! Plus, I will give you some easy games to play at home that will wear them out :)

My next round of classes with Canine Prep School start next week!

FUNdamentals is a beginner level class where all your dog needs to know before joining is how to sit, lay down, and walk on leash. We’ll go over everything else together! This class starts Friday, April 14 at 7pm.

Precision & Practice is for anyone that has prior knowledge/experience with Rally. We’ll be spending little time on the basics, rather focusing our time on upper level signs and advanced skills. This class starts Wednesday, April 12 at 7pm.

One of the most common things I hear from newbies in dog sports is how confusing the entry process is. I remember how lost I was when I first started! So I created this guide to help. I hope you find it useful!

Swipe through the pictures for a breakdown of filling out an entry form. Yes, the vast majority of AKC events still use paper entry forms. So you have to print these, fill them out, and mail them in.

I shared this quote from Nanea Hoffman with my students last night.

“Note to self: all you have to do is show up. Be late. Be scared. Be a mess. Be weird. Be confused. Just BE there. You’ll figure out the rest as you go.”

It is a perfect description of my thoughts towards Rally and life in general. At it’s core, Rally is about having fun with your dog. I told them if they only take one thing away from my class, then take my call to have more fun. If they do that, then I’ve truly succeeded 💜

I really appreciate photographers at dog sport events. They capture the most wonderful memories 🥹 this was from Astra earning her first High Combined award at the Collie Specialty back in January.

If you don’t know, High Combined is awarded to the dog competing in AKC Rally that earns the most points when you add their Excellent and Advance scores together at a trial.

If you're considering signing up for class with me, but find yourself wondering "who is this person?" "what makes them qualified to teach me and my dog anything?" this post is for you!

My name is Carla Repko. I got into dog training when my dog Artoo started developing reactivity. I started in Rally in 2019 as a way to help build his confidence and everything snowballed from there. I've discovered a true passion for working with dogs and competing in dog sports. It brings me great joy to introduce new people to the world of dog sports. I particularly enjoy helping other reactive dog owners find new ways to bond with their dogs.

As for my qualifications, I am actively pursuing a CPDT-KA certification and have joined the APDT. Both of my dogs are titled in AKC Rally, plus I have earned perfect scores with each of them on multiple occasions.

Artoo has his Rally Master & Rally Advanced-Excellent titles and is about half way to earning his Rally Champion. Additionally, he and I have qualified for the AKC Rally National Championship the past 3 years. We were lucky enough to attend the 2020 and 2021 RNCs. My other dog, Astra has her Rally Excellent title and is working towards her Rally Advanced-Excellent title.

My primary goal for each class is for everyone to have fun, everything else is a bonus :)

I am delighted to announce my new classes with Canine Prep School are now listed!

If you've taken classes with me before, please be aware that I am switching things up a bit. The FUNdamentals class will be more of a traditional class, where I demonstrate different behaviors and techniques for teaching them, then we practice. The Precision & Practice class will focus more on actually practicing courses with less direct instruction from me on the behaviors necessary and more time spent doing them.

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!

As you know, I took a brief hiatus from teaching to move. Now that we are more settled in our new home, I am ready to get back to teaching. I will be offering Rally classes at Canine Prep School in Damascus, MD.

We are still finalizing the schedule, but classes will be listed soon! I’m going to continue offering a beginner class and a practice class. Stay tuned for more information!

There is an AKC Sanctioned Match coming up in Westminster, MD on September 11. This is a great opportunity to practice Rally or Obedience in a trial setting! As a bonus they have CGC, CGCA, and Trick Dog evaluations too.

Tuesday Rally at The Coventry School, Inc. For Dogs and Their People is really the best part of the week! Both the newbies and advanced students had fun trying out Foley's Dog Training’s “choose your own adventure” rally game. We’re happy to report it works just as well for AKC rally as it does for WCRL.
