"1 manjar cha 8 manjar kadhi jhala nahi sumjhla, hya 2 varshat." meaning in 2 years this person ended up with 8 cats. This is a typical story of animal hoarders. We understand their love for animals but they have over 8 cats in a small 1 bhk rented apartment. The cats were mating inside their house and gave birth to litter after litter.
The cats were healthy but they are not able to manage it, and the society members constantly were complaining. Animal Rescue Trust - Pune and Project Mau immediately got into action and sterilized their cats and gave anti-rabies as well.
The parent couldn't even afford to vaccinate or sterilize the cats, and we counseled them and urged them to vaccinate on an urgent basis and not to future take any new cats. We have constantly counseled the Society Chairman and members not to throw notices to throw the cats as the cats cannot survive on the road. We were able to achieve peaceful communication between them.
Project Mau is thankful to ART was able to sterilize so many cats for free in Pune and Pcmc. This year we have handled 4 hoarding cases which was not an easy task.

Project Mau.
The very first time I saw a kitten it was constantly saying Mau Mau, I didn't understand cats but it choose me been more than 5 years.
This kitten was lucky but there are so many cats, and kittens who are killed in dog fights, poisoned, relocated, or hurt.
I appreciate the efforts of so many rescuers who put all their efforts into saving cats and finding good homes.
But you cannot save every cat, not every cat is lucky to find a safe home. It's difficult to feed/rescue so cats daily.
"Me Kudrat se naraz hu", I blame nature every 3-4 months cats mate and get pregnant and keep giving kittens after kittens.
People end up having 10+ cats that are not sterilized.
Cat sterilization is expensive, people are not able to afford it or think it's important. Last time I checked a cat was an animal and should fit under ABC Animal Birth Control but the government hasn't stepped in. I pray to god some day it changes.
So "Project Mau" focuses on sponsored cat sterilization trying to solve this problem. So far we have sterilized 100+ cats and tried our best to help as many cats as possible.
I firmly believe Sterilization is the best form of rescue.

We have slowly expanded in PCMC as well.
I am happy to see people are taking efforts actively send cats for sterilizations, yes you need free slots but according to me, you are the heroes.
