Hi all. It occurred to me that I should probably make a post to notify that I've decided to stop breeding ratties. I've only got two elderly lady rats left now. It's been a wonderful & rewarding experience being a part of the rat/mouse community for the last 10 years. I got my gorgeous collie rough girl 2 years back & recently I've found my interest/passion going towards dog showing/sports instead. :-) Sadly I can't do all the things, so I have given up the ratty things.

Big thanks to all my friends who helped me along the way with my breeding. I won't bother tagging anyone because it was pretty much everyone who helped even if in small ways. It's my hope that the work I've put into my breeding could go on to help others, so I've rehomed my rats to a number of breeders, including (but probably not limited to because I have a horrible memory): Captain Ratz Mischief, Dovah's Rattery, Drake's Rattery, Halo Down Rats, Tiger Patch Rattery, Mushroom Rodentry, Blazing Tails Rodentry & Ratticats Rattery

Anyone looking for ratties, I recommend everyone here, they are all awesome: http://qrf.org.au/registered-ratteries

If anyone is wanting information about rat keeping or breeding feel free to still PM me and I'll do my best to respond. I'll keep the page open for that reason & just in case I change my mind some day. :-)

I'll leave you with pics of my licky Parmesan boy (Pet CH MPJS Parmesan) who was the founding dude rat. And my cheeky Edam girl (CH MPJS Edam) who was the founding lady rat. :-) Both were very very very special ratties.

P.S. if anyone in the brissy area is after a ferret kingdom with metal trays, I may be able to help you out, so PM me.

Hi all! I have a 13 week old male available to a home for $25. He's an agouti berkshire standard & a calm friendly little dude. He isn't show quality because his white belly marking is too small. So if you're into showing with QRF (http://qrf.org.au) then he would do great in a pet class but can't go into a varieties class.

His dad was 28 Zany (black berkshire wedge blaze standard) who passed away at about 2-2.5yrs after the bubs were born & mum is 28 Turmeric (fawn self standard) who is still kicking. Very happy to give more detailed info about parents, health, lineage, etc etc, and a pedigree, if you're interested.

I'd really love to find him a spoilt pet home. Even better if it's with someone who comes to rattie shows so I can say hi again. PM me if you're interested and maybe tell me a bit about yourself, your rats, etc if I don't already know you.

I'll be at the Gold Coast show on Sunday & can bring him along.

These guys are going online... and very reasonable with the shipping. They're the best source of rat products ever, just sharing for anyone who doesn't already know :)

BIG NEWS, after 8 odd years we have decided to sort of close our doors.

DONT PANIC as we will still be trading just online and not in a shop front any more.

At the end of this month we will close our doors to the bricks and mortar shop, and will have the online shop open hopefully within days after that! If you want a bargain however before that come in and purchase items now! I was going to have a big sale but then i am only moving not stopping, so i might just sell some bigger items off cheaper so i dont have to move them :)

The costs of having the doors open are quite simply too much to continue to sell at the prices we do, I could increase my prices yes and still be cheaper than others but thats not what I want to do, I would like to remain affordable so cost of owning a animal is not crazy.

The online shop is not quite ready yet for trade but will be shortly, we will be offering all the main stream products we do now but with the online store it will be a live database of what’s available also so you will be able to see exactly what’s in stock and its prices and have it reserved for you.

I will advertise the site once up and running and have links on FB and our website to it once we are up and running. Its functional now but not al the stock is online thats going to take me ages! I am adding as fast as I can and will have main stream product up shortly. Will get pictures and descriptions up as I can also. I am sure there will be some teething problems that’s bound to happen but hopefully it will be a smooth and easy transition.

I still be available to help you with your questions, on fb or on email, and hopefully still be able to supply you with all the great products at great prices that I have for last 8 odd years.

Online but I dont want to pay $10 flat rate for delivery! - Thats ok - We understand, if you order over $100 in a single order we will ship for free.

Too much? - Thats also ok. - On Wednesdays for our local customers we will deliver to your home for orders over $25 for free.

Still too much? - Thats also ok. - On Monday nights or Saturday mornings you can pick up your orders from the judo club behind the current pet shops location, if you order it on line we will have it ready for collection at the club for no delivery fee as your picking it up!

And if your still not happy I am willing to meet you at the judo club (again behind the current pet shops location) anytime we arrange, with your order any day for no delivery fee, so just like now except you have to order in in advance so I can get your order ready and meet you!

Yes we will still accept cash sales and Eft sales but now will also do paypal too. Naturally if being delivered on a courier it wont be able to paid for in cash but pickup or our delivery cash is fine (as is eft or paypal).

Everythings online and I dont like it, I can not work out how to use the shopping cart, thats ok too, drop us a email with a order and I will do it for you online.

A great thing about online also besides seeing whats in stock and how many, is that you can shop anytime from home, work, mobile or tablet. The online shop will also store your purchases so you will always remember 'the same one as I got last time' which will make life just that little bit easier.

Our only downsides for delivery is trying to work out how to do our bucket refills, that something we are working on! We may have to go to buckets available and do refill bags to the buckets volume. Its a tricky one as we were trying to reduce our plastic waste with plastic bags hence why we changed to buckets a few years ago. More on that as we decided how to fix that one up!

Anyhow thanks to all the great customers we have had over the years, and I hope to still look after you in years to come also, everyone that knows me knows I like to change things around and got to try new things all the time. Retail is changing, some say not for the better, but its a fact of life retails a hard slog and expenses keep going up but prices dont always match it. All exciting times anyhow, the hope for me is too have more time to work with my bees and reptiles and still be able to provide a service to the local area with our pet products. We thank you for your support in last few years and hope to continue to do so in the future also.

I haven't posted in a while so why not. Went to the QRF show today - 28 Paprika got Best Rat in Show & 28 Babybelle got Reserve Rat in Show. They are sister/brother - CH. 28 Bell Peppers babies. I thought they were looking pretty good when they were younger so I'm glad they're placing well as they mature. They're only 5-6 months old I think.

These are the places we got:

Best Rat in Show: 28 Paprika
Reserve Rat in Show: 28 Babybel

Best Standard Rat: 28 Paprika
Best Senior Pet Rat: 28 Caprino
Best Breeders Group: The 28th Rat

1st in Standard Self Ticked: 28 Paprika
1st in Standard Self Non-Ticked: 28 Babybel
1st in Standard Marked Non-Ticked: 28 Bocconcini
1st in Adult Pet Doe: DOV Sweet Potato
1st in Senior Pet Doe: 28 Caprino
3rd in Standard Self Ticked: 28 Turmeric
3rd in Standard Self Non-Ticked: 28 Broccolini
3rd in Standard Marked Non-Ticked: 28 Baked Potato

As an update on bubbies etc I'm not really breeding much/at all these days so I won't have anything for a while. Check out the QRF registered breeders though if you are looking. Http://qrf.org.au/

**EDIT: There are 2 now. Lol.

Hi guys - this is regarding rats for sale. I have finally gone through what I have, unfortunately a lot of them didn't pass the health/temperament minimum that I'm happy with to sell them.

But I have got **2 12 month old females. Seems a bit unnecessary since there are only 2 but because I did promise, this is the 24 hrs notice. Tomorrow night between 8-10pm I'll make a post with a photo of her, variety details, parentage, etc etc. First person to message me (who is a wonderful decent rat owner) after the post is put up can come have a look in person and if they like her, she is theirs. So on so fourth until she has an owner. Since they are older girls they will only be $10 each or $15 for both.

Heads up for those interested in buying rats, I may have a limited number of them available sometime next week. Likely young males around 10-12 weeks old and some older 1yr+ females. I'll be going through the rats in the next few days to make sure they are suitable for re homing.

I'll be selling on a first come first serve basis (however I will ask a few questions to make sure the homes are suitable ofc). The way it will work is, I'll make a post and whoever messages me first after the post is made can reserve male or female slots (e.g. 2 male slots). Once the slots are reserved they can come and choose the actual rats in person after that. I'll give 24 hrs to tell you what time I'm going to put up the post so maybe turn on notifications for this page if you're interested.

Sorry to those interested interstate, but I won't be doing freight at this time as the summer heat is too hot atm for me to feel safe sending them.

We have babies!!! Finally! I'm over the moon. 5 bubs born on the 13/8/15. Since there's only 5 it's unlikely that I'll have any available, but I do have a lot of other litters planned if the does would just get pregnant. :P

There are 3 girls (2 black eyed, 1 ruby eyed) and 2 boys (both black eyed).

This is DOV Sweet Potato :) One of my favourite little ladies. She loves getting a scritch. Thanks Dovah's Rattery. I'll be pairing her to 28 Bell Pepper sometime this week, fingers crossed for all the agoutis.

WATCH: Mice twitter like songbirds to their mates, and now we can finally hear them

We might know mice as being quiet as well, themselves, but in reality, these little mammals have got a whole lot to say, and they've figured out how to say it a way that doesn't alter big oafs like us to their whereabouts. A new study by...

Click here to support RIP Jess - Help Pay Her Vet Bill by Dani Prebensen

Hey guys - I don't usually share stuff like this BUT. As a TLDR. I just moved house recently, and my new housemate was holding onto the family dog until they could manage to freight her to NZ (where the rest of her family have moved just recently). Unfortunately this never happened - because the next door neighbours dogs jumped the fence into our yard and viciously attacked her, resulting in her death. The owner was lovely at first, helping however they could, and they offered to pay the vet bill of $550 for Jess's care prior to her passing away. Unfortunately the owner has now taken off, leaving a student who just moved interstate to pay the bill. Just wanted to share here to see if anyone can help. The full story is under the link.

My name is Dani and this is for my sister's dog, Jess. Jess was a mini foxie cross and a beloved member of our family. My mum and sister recently moved from Australia to New Zealand and have been saving up to fly Jess over. Of course I was happy to help look after her in the meantime. Last we...

Travelled down to NSW with Kirras Critters Rodentry on the weekend to attend the Australian Rodent Club (ARC) show at the Newcastle Regional Show. Was a little tired but still heaps of fun chatting to all the NSW ratty owners. My agouti guy 28 Bell Pepper won Reserve Champion Rat :3 I'm looking forward to introducing mr pepper to some pretty lady friends later in the year once he has turned 1 and passed all my aggression testing.

Upcoming rat & mouse events | Queensland Rodent Fanciers

Brisbane rat and mouse lovers, you should come along to the next Queensland Rodent Fanciers Show on Sunday 1st February :) Details here: http://qrf.org.au/events

Seriously, rat shows are fun. Rats are judged in either pet (temperament+health) or varieties (temperament+health+looks) and winners receive shiny ribbons. Members are selling all sorts of rat things for you to buy. Famous Robyn from The Dapper Rat is there selling her stuff. There's also a raffle at the end of the day- contribute something & buy tickets (seriously, 90% of the accessories in my cages come from buying $10 worth of tickets each show - people put up good stuff!). Not to mention you can come and see lots of different types of rats, talk to rat owners, etc. plug plug!

I'm completely addicted to rat shows so if you have any questions about it please ask away :)

RSPCA QLD | Adopt Search

Yesterday/recently about 40-50 rats were dumped and are at the RSPCA in Wacol QLD. The males are up for adoption now, females pending to go up once they are confirmed not pregnant (so about 3 weeks). I have loads of rats so I'm not at all in the position to adopt, but thought it's worth sharing given how many rats are needing homes. I've had a lot of people messaging me asking for available rats lately - and with breeders all working on their projects there are few to go around. So adopting a rattie is something to think about for those people.

There's a list of profiles & photos of the rats on this page.
http://www.rspcaqld.org.au/adopt/search?PageNumber=1&AnimalType=74,85,4,83,93,100,1786,73&Shelter=75

As always do remember to health check the rats yourself - never trust anyone to do that for you whether it be a pet shop, breeder or shelter. Use your own judgement before bringing your rats home. Here's a helpful link about how to do that.
