Instead of $5 Friday, for the next few weeks we will be seeking sponsorships for some of the pigs that are scheduled for hoof and tusk trims at the end of August. It can get expensive, so if you can help by sponsoring, we would be incredibly grateful! Below is a list of the pigs in need and what your sponsorship will go towards!
We pay $150 for the trip fee to get on the farrier’s route and then $90 per hoof trim and $40 per tusk trim

It’s so rewarding just seeing contentment and happiness in the animals here. Benny has really settled in and is a completely different pig than when he first came here. He’s talkative, energetic and actually loves to be scratched and loved on now! He also has developed a ravenous appetite 😂
Knocked out building these two pig barns in a couple days. Many of the existing barns are in need of work and some just need to be scrapped and rebuilt. We would love it if there were some handy carpenters that would like to lend a hand on projects like these! Materials would be provided! It’s hard for us to keep up with the never ending list of projects around here 😅

The event may have gotten cancelled and it may not have rained or stormed, like the forecast showed… 🤔 but we were happy to have a few visitors today!
Mary with visited Benny and brought donation money! Mary was responsible for making sure Benny always had fresh water and food at his previous home. She made daily trips to his owner’s house to help care for him. When he was losing weight, not eating and also venturing into the highway, she reached out for help from a rescue and thankfully I saw the post and offered to come get him! I think he was happy to see a familiar face today!
Carrie & J.R. also visited and donated oats for Benny & loved on the animals! I think Smokey Joe thought they were here just to see him 🫏 😁

We have started a fundraiser to help purchase a used horse trailer, like the one shown. This would allow us to quickly and easily be able to load animals to get them to MS State Vet School safely whenever an emergency arises. The drive is a 6 hour round trip and we currently do not have a safe or easy way to load a 200-300 lb pig and transport…much less, Smokey, the donkey. With many of the animals here being seniors, we need to plan for emergencies and age related health issues. The situation we had on Thursday with Petunia, is a prime example. A used trailer will cost around $2,000.

While Petunia is doing much better, this morning I noticed Stevie and Texie Mae were hanging back during breakfast and not feeling well. So it seems this is a respiratory virus that is making its way around here. Mostly, they’re lethargic right now and Stevie has a runny nose. So far no labored breathing or coughing. 🤞🏻 This seems to be something that is lasting a few days before it runs its course. I just hate seeing them feel so bad 😞
