This senior girl is an 8 year old Akita mix named Nikita. Due to no fault of her own she is looking for a new forever family or older retired friend. Serious inquiries only please and potential owners will be vetted to ensure this is her last move.
Adopted by her current family in 2019 from owen sound shelter, she does have a past history of abuse so can be stand offish with men until she gets used to them, she can coward or growl but has never bit. Good with kids 10plus as she can be jumpy however does not get proper exercise currently so this can most likely be easily corrected with proper breaks to use the bathroom and regular short walks.
She is fixed, last vaccines were in 2019 and her vet records are available. She’s approx 50-60lbs so medium to large breed. No known allergies. No biting history. She does have a bit of separation anxiety but is crate trained and this I also believe can be worked on with the proper owner and training. She is good on leash and good at the dog park with other dogs.

This is urgent and she is needing to find a home, foster or rescue before the new year. If you think you can take this sweet girl in and give her the love she deserves please reach out and I can arrange a meeting. Why is it that if someone finds a dog and calls AC in west grey, she gets back to them asap, BUT if someone wants their dog back, they have to call over and over with no call back and get police involved? Good question, don't you think?

I wrote this in 2021 when I was trying to help Deanna and Bonnie get their dogs back. But it shows how we still need to keep fighting. Nothing has changed yet. The Mayor in west grey now is appalled at her latest antics. He has already helped and agreed to further help. We can't let him forget that promise. Let's make sure of it.

Remember everyone, we still have to fix the wrong here too. First priority is to get Deanna Irvin-Wheeler 's dogs back, and educate our local townships in the illegal ways the animal control officer conducts business. We have her own testimony in court how she does things and she so incriminated herself. There are other testimonies to come out about illegal conduct not BSL related as well. There are also townships that dictate to owners proceedures to their pets that veternarians are against as not healthy for the animals. There is this pattern of not following experts like veternarians and uneducated council and their lawyers making demands against vet recommendations. We must stop those things that are inhumane as well. There is the mental health aspect of holding loved animals hostage and demanding the owners jump through hoops to get their family members back. It's the financial burden on good people and tax payers. It's nothing short of blackmail. There is the mental health aspect of vets and vet staff having to hold loving dogs and sometimes euthanize a healthy loving pet. And the cops that don't want to be there for warrants because they love dogs and have to take healthy sweet pets from distraught families. There is no mental health experts attending to help families during this time where su***de was a real issue. There is taking away a person's medical device. There is holding dogs in cages that are used to sleeping in bed with their owners. The animals mental health deteriorates more and more every day. They get stressed and develope health issues, suffer lesions in their bodies and develope bed sores from kennels, like what has happened to Blue. How is that humane? There are the charter of rights violations the animal control officer committed and municipalities won't listen. There are CAO'S getting good pay to render your council ineffective for your work. They are there working for you, and you can't even talk to them as CAO's won't let them s**t or winde their watch unless they say so. There is so much that needs to be fixed to actually make animal care and control what it should be. We need to fight now harder than ever. We have the court saying charter of rights have been violated. We have the court saying animal control can't substantiate any claims. I'm not ok with that, are you? Do our pets and residents deserve better? Damn right they do. First we bring Nove and Dexter home. Then all of this while end BSL for good. Oh and another charter of rights violation...... Saying we can't talk to press or no dogs. OMG. I'm not ok with this. The only way wrongs are made right and things get better, is laying it wide open so people know what is going on. We just need to make changes, not hide stuff. Child sexual abuse victims will tell you, secrecy is the wrong doers friend. Telling the story is the victims salvation. These dogs are victims. These families are victims. I will tell the story and I will not let them be victimized again!

For everyone who is asking for people from the township to contact over what has been going on with all these puppies and dogs being dumped here is the info for all of the council members 2 other people would be Karl Shippwrack who is Cheryl's boss plus the Cao who is Laura Johnston. The barn he had rented is in West Grey Township Not Southgate like I have heard so many times.
