"We first set eyes on AJ in March 2022. This was the day after our most wonderful son Alex's funeral. He was only 25. He had tragically taken his own life in February.
My oldest, and most amazing friend, had 10 puppies. They were 6 weeks old. She told me at the funeral that one of them was mine, if I would like one. Her words helped carry me through a day that I didn't think I'd get through. Well, the next day we visited these most adorable pups.
One stood out, he had spirit and naughty eyes! I chose his name, AJ, because I wanted to include our second son who we will always miss with all our hearts. His name was Alexander John - hence AJ. This little dog has helped my three remaining sons, my husband and myself beyond belief.
He was the best thing to happen to us following the worst tragedy we could imagine. He truly feels like a lifesaver and we love him so much. Each day, he genuinely makes us smile. Something that is now not such an easy thing to do."
I am so sorry for your loss and for the darkness that understandably brought into your life Ann. I hope you hold on tight to each other and that AJ continues to bring you light and love. Big hugs and thank you for sharing your story. x
