Jola’s Backyard Flowers

Hi , my name is Jola and I grow flowers as a hobby and sell them at the local farmers market . In order to keep it real I post a picture of myself and what I may look like on daily bases while in the garden . Yes , flowers are beautiful but work is hard and not glamorous. Despite that , I love that I do , I yes maybe more so due to the level of challenge I am faced with daily . Summers are especially strenuous here in Virginia as heat and humidity take toll on the body . The best one can do is adjust quickly . Today I have started working in the garden at 5 am with head lamp on in order to beat the heat . There are ways to do it , if you really love that you do 🙂 Second picture is of my dog Tuptus . She is a faithful friend . I am trying to convert her into being a farm dog , but she really is a princess and she likes to sit in the middle of soft yarrow planting while in the garden 😊 So that is our story and that’s what we do here

Thank you to everyone who stop by my stand today . As well, happy Summer Solstice. I hope you get to celebrate the longest day of the year appropriately. For me , I will just have more daylight to pull the weeds and plant last dahlias 🥰🌻❤️

We will open at 5pm, remember to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket. We will have a limited number of chairs available.

Get ready for some great music by Johnny St. Clair! 🎶

Please no outside food or drinks. We will have delicious local food available from Two Drummers Smokehouse and Dominion Dogs!

Alewerks Brewing Company will be there and all adult admission tickets include the first beer or wine! Additional tickets can be purchased for $6 beer and $7 wine. A discount will be applied if you purchase more than one ticket.

Admissions is $20 for THS Members and $25 for general admission! Kids are free!

Let’s come together and celebrate the official start of summer! 🌞

If you would like a cheerful bouquet, I have flowers available. Bouquet would include sunflowers , dalphenium , sweet William , snapdragons to name a few few .

We are busy , busy , busy .
March is the busiest month here. I feel like I am wearing 1000 hats , performing 1000 of tasks to get everything where it needs to be. This year on top of cut flowers bouquet , I am prepping to offer this new items at the Toano Open Air Market
- echinacea Paradiso perennial in the 3 inch pots
- transplants of tomatoes , bell peppers and eggplant
- dahlia tubers
As much as I am busy, I am equally excited about new gardening season and seeming everyone back at the market.
