Secret Fid's Business Providing fun toy making activities you can make with your kids for your feather and fur family and friends!

Hi everyone!
Yes, I'm still around, but have had to put the page on hold for a bit now that working life has returned. My mind is always thinking of new things to try, so soon there will be a fun new project!

This was shared by a friend tonight, and I just love it ♥️, the happy noises, the care to keep the ball close after it went under the fence! Sometimes enrichment can be so simple, and not always what you would expect your pet to enjoy!

Action post alert!
I gifted my Mother the small foraging mat I had made for her kitty Yasmin who is a gobbler. I was sent some pictures today of the mat in action! It only took a couple of hours to get her foraging!

I am with Dr Chris, I know for one, my kitty is loving the extra attention and access to her slave mumma that she doesn't normally get when I am working. She is going to be one very put out kitty when life returns to normal, and slave mumma is no longer home during the day!
Slave mumma has been working on that though, so stay tuned for my next project that will hopefully ease any anxiety when post pandemic life arrives :)

Forget the pandemic. Right now, we’re in an epidemic of good boys (and girls) loving the attention that life in lockdown provides. But what happens when we all go back to work? Here’s how to equip the most emotionally needy member of the family with the skills to cope… Listen to Donald Trump a...

Hi there!
Thankyou to everyone who has liked my page so far!
My name is Mickila, and welcome to the secret Fid’s business flock! I am a proud parront (parrot parent) and slave to the pretty kitty in my logo! They are my fids – my fur and feather kids!
I have been making toys for my parrots, my family flock, friends and neighbours parrots, and for my cat for some time now, and it is so much fun! I do this, and many other things, to provide enrichment for my pets.
This page will bring you easy, affordable and crafty ways to provide quality enrichment for your fur and feather kids. In these crazy times we live in now I am sure all of us are starting to understand the boredom that home isolation can bring, but just imagine what it's like for our pets who don't know any different? , so join me on this journey of making our Fid's lives happier and healthier!

Drum roll please!.........
Here are the 2 finished shredding toys for Louie Lorikeet using the woven balls, and cup cake puffs (You can learn how to make cup cake puffs in Enrichment Activity 1 available in my shop!).
Constructed on bases of seagrass matting and natural cane basket. All have been attached using zip ties, and yes, I have left the tails on, as it is safer for birds to leave them on than to cut them. A cut cable tie can be very sharp and cause injury.
These are examples of busy mats. Bases chock full of stuff to rip apart and shred!
These should keep his beak busy for a while!

I have been a busy little beaver making some toy components for Louie Lorikeet to shred. Yep, shred. Louie has developed a feather plucking habit, it was part of his grief response when his Dad was taken away from him due to ill health. He is slowly getting better, but is helps him if he has lots to keep his beak busy with away from his feathers! So shredding toys and fresh browse it is! These are the two things that I have found help distract him from feather destruction.

These cardstock woven balls are fantastic little shredders. They are hand woven, a little tricky to make, but work really well as foot toys, foraging toys with a hidden treat inside, or as part of a busy mat.
Stay tuned for the finished toys!

What a clever and inspiring piece of enrichment! I love it. And so did they 🙂✔️
