🚨 ONE IN TWELVE 🚨We wanted to share some alarming statistics about domestic animals in the United States.
-Approximately 82 million pet cats are living in U.S households.(AVMA)
- An estimated 50-70 million stray and feral cats live outdoors.- (Humane Society & AVMA)
- In 2024, 5.8 million dogs & cats entered shelters. Of those animals 607,000 were euthanized. (ASPCA.org)
-Out of all cat owning households in the U.S, about 43% of them adopted from shelters/ pounds. - (AVMA)
One of the most heartbreaking realities we must face as animal advocates and lovers is that despite the millions of loving homes who want to adopt, the sheer number of animals being born in the U.S outnumber them.
Animal advocacy groups like the PETCO foundation estimate that only 1 in 12 cats born ever find their forever home. This means that millions of cats are left to struggle on the streets or end up in over crowded shelters.
Please if you consider yourself an animal lover or advocate, do your part, get your cat or dog altered and encourage your friends/ family to do the same. ADOPT, DON’T SHOP. Support local rescues.
