Good Day Everyone!!!
We thought it was time to post a little about us and explain a few things that will take place in 2025 since today is the first day!
First off, for those who don’t know our names are Kalista and Ronald and we are the adult humans of Iota Kennels or aka the owners as some would call it. Although, as many husky owners can attest to once you own a husky you quickly learn you don’t own them, but they own you. Of course you love every second of it though!
2025 will come with some exciting new things and some not so exciting things. This list is just the start of what we have planned and is always subject to change if need be.
Our planned litters for 2025 are Avalanche and Koda (puppies coming in January); followed by Denali and a stud this summer, Tala May have one last litter or not we haven’t fully decided yet.
We are excited to announce that our fencing project will be complete this year allowing the dogs to have runs outside. As well as our entire backyard will be fenced for them to enjoy (roughly 1/4 acre give or take). Their runs are for when we are gone at work or away, making it easier for them to use the bathroom and not making them hold it while we are at work. These runs will be connected to newly converted sheds that we are hopeful to add air conditioning and heat to as well.
With our ever growing commitment to provide the happiest and healthiest puppies we can. We have decided we are adding another level of protection for our dogs. Starting in 2025 all of our breeding dogs will be getting their OFA testing completed as well as Embark Testing to test for genetic diseases. We will also be testing our retirees through Embark genetic testing to provide that information for previous puppy owners and it begins a line for us to study as our retirees are grandparents and great grandparents.
We are going to be finishing up our new puppy room where the puppies will be whelped and be hanging 50%-75% of the time while here. This room will have everything they need to keep them healthy and safe. They will still come up stairs to interact with us and the pack as usual.
Now onto some of the less exciting things for 2025.
We have made the tough decision to retire some of the oldies:
-Mia was set to retire (and did), but is pending her spay. She will no longer be producing puppies. She will be looking forward to continue to be the lead dog for the sled team, for as long as she wants to. As soon as she decides she is done her wish is our command.
-Tala will be retiring this year as well. We are still undecided on if she will have one last litter or not after her next cycle she will be spayed puppies or no puppies.
Unfortunately, we are having to raise our prices. We had hoped we would never have to do this, but as mentioned above with our commitment to providing the best puppies you can get and the ever growing cost of bringing these bundles of joy into the world we have no choice, but to do this. Effective immediately in 2025 our puppy prices will increase from $800 for spay/neuter contract to $1000 and from $1500 for full breeding rights to $2000. Our vet bills, food bills etc are only rising, so our prices unfortunately have to reflect that. What sets us apart from others is that what little “profit margin” we have only goes straight back into our dogs. The sale of puppies is what feeds our dogs, vets our dogs, buys toys for our dogs, leashes, collars, harnesses. The “profit” doesn’t go into anything for us humans, it goes straight to the dogs and their needs and wants. We would like to note that we will still keep the 10% discount for school staff, medical staff, police, fire, and military (both active and retired).
*Anyone on our current waitlist and anyone who gets on the waitlist prior to January 5, 2025 will still have the old prices*
Another change coming to our program may be for the good or may be for the bad. We have gone back and forth about what to do and how to do it. Ultimately, after talking with other breeders around the world, we believe we have mashed together a better adoption process. One that is clear cut and will get the best results. Our goal always has been and always will be to do our best to honour Color preferences, but we also want to make sure personality matches happen as well. This along with some experiences we have encountered we believe this is the best method going forward. This will take effect January 1, for those on the current list for puppies we will reach out to you and explain how this will work for you as some will apply and some won’t.
Step One: Reach out to us and ask any questions you may have we can be reached via email ([email protected]), via our website (www.iotakennels.com), via our social platforms Iota Kennels (Facebook), iota_sibes (Instagram), Iota Sibes (Tik Tok).
Step Two: Fill Out our Puppy Questionnaire. This allows us to get to know you, and helps so we can meet your preferences. The order of questionnaires are filled out is how we keep track of the pick orders. Once approved you will be added to the waitlist. Once approved you will need to place a $100 commitment voucher to remain on the list. This ensures your commitment to our puppies. This price comes of the total cost of your puppy. It can be used on any litter from Iota. We have time and time again had customers hold them a spot for us only to be ghosted by them wasting our time, energy and adopters time and energy.
Step Three: Wait for a litter. Once a litter is born we will go down the waitlist and notify they have arrived. You will receive information on each and every puppy. We will continue to send updates each week until their vet appointment at 6 weeks. During this time we will also post videos and tips and tricks for our new families so they can have the best start to their new homes.
Step Four: Once the vet appointment is confirmed we will go down our list and adopters can pick a time for selection. At 6 Weeks the puppies will go to the vet and receive their first shots, de wormer, vet check, and microchip. After the appointment is complete we will allow picks to happen (first pick gets first choice and so forth). These can be done via FaceTime, phone call, Skype, or in person. Once you have selected your puppy you will only receive the updates regarding your puppy until they get to go home. At the time of selection, you will have 24 hours to place your second deposit ($200) to officially hold that puppy and mark them as sold. If the deposit is not paid, then you forfeit your place and puppy goes back up for availability. You have now paid $300 in deposit that all will come off total price due at pick up.
Step Five: Week 7 you will receive the update on your new baby as well as the choice of pick up time. We do pick up choices based on distance (adopters from farthest away get first choice of time and closest gets last choice) we always have tons of times available and can work around most schedules. You will also receive the contracts to be signed via Jotform and must be completed prior to pickup.
Step Six: Week 8 you get to pick up your new baby when they are 8 weeks old and remaining balance is due ($700 spay/neuter $1700 breeding rights unless you get a discount which we discuss with you personally)
Step Seven: We do check ups at 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and yearly after. Of course any and all updates in between are always welcome as well! We love to see how they are doing and growing and hear the good, the great, the bad and the ugly for our puppies so that we can ensure we are continuing to do the best by the breed.
We wish all of you a Happy New Year!
