Reduce, rescue and rehome - Bush Dogs are numerous in FNQ for many reasons. Lyn with community help is trying to reduce the numbers of dogs by rescuing them from remote locations, getting them veterinary (including desexing) attention, fostering and rehabilitation in hopes to rehome for a brighter future. This rescue operation came about as the number of Bush Dogs has increased, thes

e dogs are not 'feral' - the majority are approachable. The dogs are usually in very poor condition, many animals unfortunately die due to starvation and malnutrition due to parasites (worms, fleas, ticks and mites). This page is to follow the progress of dogs/cats/horses, share the journey and support the ongoing and often heartbreaking work Lyn is doing. It's been a battle out bush last week with the weather...so many puppies at the moment.so many female dogs in season which creates loads of dog fights it's horrible to see most are big big dogs and they truely make a mess of each other...I picked up another female dog today for desexing I put up with getting soaked as she will be coming into season again very soon so if I postponed her operation she would of no doubt come into season....this beautiful puppy came home with me he has been surrendered for a price mmm...he has an injured leg he has an appointment in the morning at the vet...I had his mum desexed last week and when I returned her to the property I noticed one pup was missing..it was this little fella I put some food out and he hobbled out he was soaking wet ...filthy and so hungry...long story short he now mine he's such a beautiful little puppy loving his bed and soft toys and a full belly ...I'll give a update on his visit to the vet tomorrow...the poor little guy was in so much pain I have no idea what has happened to him...yes there were so many dogs in need of help from their injuries I did what I could with what I had ...better get some sleep 😴 a big day ahead ........

Beautiful old Bush Dog girls RAVEN and MARY are loving being inside with me in the air-conditioning they really weren't handling the heat especially Raven .... Raven came home with me a while back....her owners surrendered her ...I've known Raven for at least 8 years when I helped have her desexed....she had a lot of litters ...so I have promised them they will be loved and cared for until they pass away ...and that includes soft beds ...yummo soft food and air-conditioning haha ...a promise is a promise...❤️

What a great start to the week....I received a call from. COLES SMITHFIELD explaining there had been a mix up with their meat transport....tons of meat had been loaded into a freezer truck instead of being on fridge setting ...so all the meat was then not aloud to be sold as it had been frozen instead of fresh....I feel sorry for their loss as it would of been a lot of money ...but I'm so grateful they contacted Bush Dogs and Yaps instead of tossing the meat away ..I'm a vegetarian so no meat appeals to me ..but today's donation looked amazing...steaks ..steaks ... chicken...salmon ..... sausage....and all top quality meat each packet being around $20 very good quality...this is going to really boost the dogs instead of biscuits they will have steaks ...haha I'm so happy for the dogs ...I'd like to say a huge thankyou to Tina ...Danni...and Adam for bringing it all out onto the loading dock ...and Tina what an amazing woman she had the truck packed perfectly in no time I commented how fast and organised she was and she laughed and said .....one thing my dad taught me was how to pack I truck ...wow ...I didn't get to ask her what trucks did she pack maybe on a farm ..what a happy bunch of people to deal with we had a few laughs I'm going back up tomorrow as there is more to pick up ..I've got a huge day ...I need to pick up a dog out bush to drop at the vet for a procedure....I'll be asking can I drop her of earlier than planned than I'll head to Smithfield...I'm exhausted so I'm heading to bed now ...it's going to be an early start ...THANKYOU COLES AND STAFF 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕

I will never forget that day ...2 dogs crying in agony from their broken legs I couldn't get to the vet quick enough ..I lost 4 points on my licence that day it was impossible not to speed if I'd had someone with me to talk it through on the drive I'm sure it would have helped calm me ...and Sunny had Meloxicam for the drive he didn't cry....I pack blankets etc now to make packing when these situations happen....you have made me so happy Sunny xx❤️

Beautiful Sunny is staying the night at Edmonton vet...i payed for him to stay the night as I had 2 emergency cases in the truck ...both had been run over in seperate incidents.......the worst being a 7 month old female pup the damage was very very bad the inside of her front leg was nearly gone ..her shoulder was smashed it was just flopping ..the owner rang me this morning and asked if I could call in ...ah I felt sick she was under a pile of timber hiding there was one guy there that helped put her in the truck ..we put her in a sling to lift her she screamed in pain ..I gave her pain relief but with injuries like hers it wouldn't of helped much ...I already had the other dog in a cage her leg was degloved only bone left on the back leg it was a mess .,...I frantically rang Edmonton vet to obviously have the worst dog in so much pain put to sleep but they were to busy to help ...I headed straight to 24hr emergency vet....trying not to speed it was dam horrible she was crying ...I rang emergency vet to let them know I was on my way ...there was a vet that I've dealt with before at my truck within minutes when I arrived.....the dogs were muzzled as they could bite being in so much pain ....it didn't take long to see the serverity of their injuries.,it was obvious they needed to go to sleep ...both owners had signed the paperwork allowing Uthenaisia if the wounds were to server again I held them and told them I loved them then they were gone ....what a horrible horrific end for 2 beautiful young dogs .......back to beautiful Sunny ☀️ he had his x-ray and apparently it was clear I was told when I rang about boarding him for the night so this I'm happy about he doesn't have a bad lung infection ..so I don't understand about his cough ....he didn't have his blood test they explained because his skin is bad they didn't want to use a needle incase it pushes infected skin into his vein ...I miss him tonight ...Il pick him up early as I can ...today was truely indescribable so many emotions trying to get the dogs help ....I need sleep ....see you in the morning Sunny .x

A couple of people asked how Sunny looks now with his new family...Sunny has been with his family for a few years now I received a message from his family saying how much they love him ..it sounds like a trying journey by the sounds of it ..naughty boy demolished a lot of furniture etc when he was adopted I'm grateful they didn't give up on him ..his mum said she would tell him he would be going back bush if he kept it up....what a mess he made of the lounge ..he was nesting haha..I suppose that's what he did out bush rustle things up to make a bed .... Thankyou to Sunny's family for sending his update pictures and letting me know he is loved ...I'm so glad he came home with me that hot hot day he was so swollen and sunburnt ...not now he has a beautiful black coat his family have him looking amazing ❤️

Hi everyone my name is Lindy I would like to say a big woofy thankyou to K9 RIVER RETREAT..Petra and Chris own the retreat and they have sponsored me to be desexed as a gift to Bush Dogs...Im so happy time to just lay around under the tree relaxing ah no more dogs fighting outside my home just to be with me...Us girls get hurt when all the fighting happens...so here's to retirement... Thankyou so much PETRA and CHRIS ###x

So much for going back to bed for a Sunday morning nap after all the dogs and puppies were fed .this is what I woke up to haha....slurp slurp slurp 😂😂😂😂....why my room ! 😂😂

Beautiful Raven......Raven was surrendered to me around a month ago I've been so sidetracked and busy I didn't do her post ....I've known Raven for years to be honest I thought she had passed away years ago ...I was asked for help at a property the poor dog that couldn't walk it was nerve damage also a dog that had servere mange ..sadly the cripple dog was put to sleep and i gave the dog with mange treatment for his skin ...there was a noise coming from under the house when I was giving the dog his treatment I called it thinking it was a puppy and out came old Raven I couldn't believe it she remembered me! That strange noise she makes when she talks..I was talking away to her I was sad to see her condition mange with loads of fleas ..when her owner came out we talked a bit I gave Raven treatment for both her Mange and fleas and said if ever they want to rehome her I'd be happy to take her ....I went to the truck to get some shampoo I was going to bath her she smelt terrible ...when the owner came back out and said yes I could take her ... little girl was pretty sad from the way she was ...well lots of baths later ..good food ... medications..clean bed..she is so so happy I don't think she's had soft toys before she loves them ... Beautiful Raven will live her life out being loved and spoilt ❤️

Hi everyone it's me SOPHIE GIRL.....I'm showing of my lovely 🌹 looks after the women from JK 4 PAWS groomers gave me a makeover yesterday they gave me a nice warm bath ..clipped my nails ....cleaned my ears and gave me a clipping ...I'm naughty I wiggle lots ...but it tickles me.....Lyn's so happy I still have my little Shirley Temple ringlets on my ears ....I love living here with Lyn......I had to have all my rotted teeth removed when Lyn rescued me I feel lots better since I don't have tooth aches anymore they were yuk.....Lyn cooks me soft food I love chicken ...Lyn says I'll never have dreadlocks or be hungry ever again... goodnight luv from SOPHIE GIRL x

Heres the ray of sunshine SUNNY BOY .....it's like he's constantly smiling his stumpy tail doesn't stop wagging for long ...the old girl rescues have accepted him....he's now out of quarantine and sleeping on the verandah which I'm sure he will like....he can still go back to his spot if he wants to be on his own on his bed ....he needed to be in quarantine not just to monitor his health for nasty contagious nasties but to rest on his own ..he could barely raise his head when he came home ..I would lift him up a bit onto his shoulder so he could eat I started with hand feeding ...but there is no need for that now he loves his food whatever he gets he's happy he has a great appetite a few small portions during the day ...vet Ive gave me a tip that I'd forgotten about..alpha Kerri oil in a spray bottle watered down ...to spray his dry skin thanks Vet Ive ....it's been a good day today old Sophie had a makeover as well from JK Paws grooming they did a great job I'll get some pictures ....ah time for a cuppa ....
