I often am complimented on how clean and white Obi's teeth are, especially by his vets. Do I brush them? Nope! Here's is a picture of his Sunday afternoon activity: cleaning his own teeth with a softened Yak Milk Chew.

I have one large one left £8.50. Far cheaper than a teeth-cleaning trip to the vets later on in life and will hopefully prevent tartar build-up and dental issues. Plus, it's really enjoyable for your dog!

Hot Day Top Tip: Stuffed Tracheas

This heat can be a bit of a minefield when you have dogs. I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I walked Obi early in the shade where there is a lovely little stream. I gave him his kibble scattered on the grass in the garden in the shade, which took him about 10 mins to sniff out and eat, filled a trachea with his remaining wet food, which took him another 10 mins and now he's chilling out, keeping cool.

Keeping your dog calm and cool in this heat doesn't have to be stressful. Giving them enriching things to do calmly will give them things to do when walking for hours is not an option. Licking, chewing and sniffing are self-soothing activities for dogs, as well as something to keep them busy!

I've filled some stuffed Kongs and some stuffed tracheas in the freezer for his meal tonight.

If you would like some tracheas to stuff with food, let me know. For small dogs, you can cut them in half or i have small ones for 50p. They are £1 each.

Getting the right treats for our dogs can be hugely important! I mostly use Obi's daily food kibble to reward him when training or out on walks as he's pretty keen on any form of food. However, during our training this evening, we reached a plateau where i needed some help to get him listening to me more and following my hand signals more accurately (I am teaching him directional retrieves where two dummies are thrown, one to each side of him, and he has to follow my hand signal in order to pick up the correct dummy). Out came the liver treats and BOOM! He nailed it multiple times!

Sometimes it may seem like our dogs are not responding to training or following our instructions. Quite often they may just not see the value of doing something that they are not being paid highly enough for! I wouldn't go to work for a tuna sarnie or an apple, but I might for 100 toffee cheesecakes! Finding what your dog is really motivated by and having that on stand-by for when they need a boost will often give you that undivided attention you are after along with an improved willingness to do as you ask!

I cannot recommend these pure liver treats highly enough. I can literally see Obi's eyes light up when I am chopping them up and he is already halfway to the garden trying to guess what I might ask him to do before we even get there!!

Thanks to all my lovely customers this week! Thank you for supporting my small business! Over 120 pigs ears have gone out this week (granted, these two lucky boys got the lion's share of those!).

Obi has had numerous compliments regarding his lovely white teeth, including the vet! She asked if I cleaned them. I don't need to clean them as these treats do it for me!!
