About Myself & My Mission
My name is Pascale, I am an animal lover and most of my life has been dedicated to taking care and providing shelter, protection, medical treatment and meals to those abandoned animals, those beloved dogs and cats, those innocent souls…
It all started with a few dogs I had rescued ears ago which led me to commit to the choice to rescue animals. I was aware of all the challenges, especially in Lebanon and that the possibility of me I me losing my mind a probability, but I also knew that I would surely find my soul…for how could that not be in the presence of such Loving Beings.
"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between a dog and a man…" Mark Twain
Life at The Shelter
I am by myself, I do it all mostly on my own, but not without support of various people whom I shall introduce as the days and months go by. I am only capable of continuing this mission of Love because of such support and the support of people like yourselves. It takes a Village....
Friends volunteer to drive the dogs to their medical appointments and also deliver the bags of food and the material needed for the shelter.
Daily chores include cleaning, feeding and rehabilitating these sweet souls and making sure they receive the love and life they deserve. I take them for walks in nature nearby, as the shelter is situated in a mountainous area with space to run, play and be dogs.
I also do my best to improve the shelter when I can by the construction materials to build or improve the existing Kennels.
There are designated areas for the various compatible groups of dogs (seniors, Alpha, Docile, Puppies ...) they each have their own area. They are let out to play daily in a spacious yard on the shelter grounds. Its such a joy to witness them in their element, safe and happy.
Lebanon:
Rehoming And Awareness
The street dogs of Lebanon need lots of help.
Decades of mis-education, has led to a culture of cruelty, neglect and often deeply-shocking maltreatment.
Many a time, I woke up to find pets left at the door step of the shelter. It happens more often these days because of the Financial Crisis. Its absolutely heartbreaking, but I/we are doing something about it.
I take pride in what I do and I am doing my best to keep homeless pets safe, providing healthcare to the sick and injured, spaying and neutering when needed, providing them with a happy and safe environment, all the while trying and hoping to find and bring them into loving homes.
Surviving In Lebanon.
The critical Economic Situation In Lebanon has only been getting worse and inflation is at an all time high. The Lebanese pound exchange rate went up to 28.000 LBP instead of the official rate of 1.500 LBP per Dollar. Sparking price hikes in markets, and the economic crisis paralyzing the country. Before the Oct. 17 revolution in 2019, the Lebanese people started struggling with a turmoil of economic collapse, it’s been declared the worst economic situation in the world in the last hundred years.
Clashes erupted and violence threatened to tip largely peaceful demonstrations. Leading to more fears of instability. And adding to the downward spiral came the tragic event of 2020.
August 4th, 2020
