Hi everyone! This summer has been a hot one, and I’ve been facing family health emergencies. On the slow road to recovery ❤️‍🩹

Some days we run, some days we relax and focus on socializing.

Every day is a training opportunity. 🙌 It’s important to teach our dogs an ‘off switch’ and neutrality. She can watch kids play, dogs pass and cars drive by while learning not to step off the cement. Azula has strong genetics and loves to be involved if it gets her hyped. Today, were learning to unwind 🧘‍♀️

Mondays are the start to the work week! 💪

Dash and I are working on socialization. He’s nervous of strangers and gains confidence when we show him people are fun, and friendly once we get used to them.

I always like to start at a distance. Have a picnic, a nice walk, or a game of fetch! Get your dog used to visuals. Always advocate for your pets space! New meet and greets may feel scary to them.

Take your time, your dog will thank you 🙏

We can help! At Sit Happens, we teach strong impulse control. New people are exciting and fun, but we’d all like our dogs to listen to us when our guests are over and teach them boundaries. When is it ok to say hi, when is it time to follow the rules and settle on our bed.

Socializing!

Contrary to popular belief- socialization for dogs looks different than human socialization. Being pet, eye contact, or invading personal space can be uncomfortable for some dogs! A good way to get your pup socialized is with you, in a place they feel comfortable. Sometimes that can look a lot like nothing. In this case , we’re in the school pickup line socializing from our car 🚘

How important is play time? VERY…why?

Playtime is relationship bonding and communication. When you play together, your dog is getting your one on one attention and time. Whether it be throwing a ball or tugging a rope, playtime is their favorite part of the day with you 🥹
