We had to let Kat pass today. 😭💔

I dont have any words for how hard the last few years have been. Especially the last 6 months with 3 losses.

All I can tell myself is that our sweet girl is finally out of pain. That’s all I have.

Our doctor is always so kind and compassionate with our babies and with us.

These days are the darkest ones and I am so thankful for the talking through of everything, the assurance, the empathy, the hugs.

I don’t know how much more of this terrible sadness my heart can take…

Medicated Kat and Grey for Insulinoma. Then sprinkled some tasty oil drops onto the group. ;)

For Insulinoma, Kat and Grey receive:

A dose of Prednisolone (steroid, blood glucose management) every 12 hours.

A dose of Famotidine (Pepcid, stomach lining protection) every 24 hours.

VetOmega, Fish, Duck, or Ferretone oil at a set amount with each dosing to help the medication be a bit more tolerable.

Kat takes everything perfectly. I do not recall ever needing to scruff her for any medication. She’s a very easy going baby.

Grey hates both medications. We had to scruff him gently a bit off and on the first few days. Today, day #4, no scruffing at all. :)

Once we get into a routine and find the timing between tasty oils and non-tasty meds, our babies tend to get used to the process. 🙌

Across all babies, we really only have issues with Omeprazole (Tassi’s nightmare) and Metronidazole (painful, bitter, burning, metallic tasting antibiotic). We don’t blame our babies. Met is the worst to medicate with. We are so fortunate to not have to dose that to anyone so far this year.

My neighbour saw me with the ferrets the other day and asked “oh, do you keep them in the room with the window facing us?” They must have been spotting Morph on a regular basis. 😅😂
