New changes to the NAVHDA testing system

At the 2025 NAVHDA International Meeting, Director of Judge Development, Mark Whalen, introduced the new Gun Dog Test (GDT), replacing the UPT.

The GDT criteria are posted on the NAVDHA website, new score cards are being printed and the changes are effective 1 Feb 2025.

Summary of changes (UPT to GDT)
• Duck Search removed
• Decoys added at water
• Clarifying language for retrieves

Judges should reach out to the J&T committee or the central office with questions.

I really focused on self-control with this litter, making all the pups come off the gates before opening doors and staying calm and quiet before feeding. Well after 8 weeks, here’s the result: minute #3 just listening to birds and watching cars, all while running free in the yard. I hope it pays dividends at their new homes.

That’s it, folks. ONE little lady is all that’s available from this litter.

Lots of work has already been put into these pups. ENS training, sound/environment exposure, trips to the water, and soon-to-come contacts with live birds. Sire and Dam onsite with all breed recommended health tests completed.
