We had a great time at Clear Creek Elementary School for their school garden wellness event. We built and filled lots of raised beds using huglekulture that the kids will plant seeds in this week.

Thank you to Martin's Wrecker Service for taking the time to bring us this roll-off full of fresh carrots!!!

When they picked them up they hated to see it go to waste in the landfill so they made some calls and eventually were put in touch with us. These carrots will make beautiful compost and give back to the food cycle instead of being buried under layers of trash. 😁🥕

Chicken Club!

We had a great time with students at Cloverleaf Elementary School. We taught them how to make chicken enrichment treat toys using vegetables, fruits, and flowers and decorated the chicken run with them. Then we gave a much needed beak trim to one of the hens and surprised the club with some new feathered additions! The students did a great job working on the enrichment activities for the hens and even had some great ideas for swings and see-saws to add to the run to keep the hens entertained.

Today we got to visit with Cloverleaf Elementary School Chicken Club to do a health check on their chickens and talk with the students about nutrition and environmental enrichment for the chickens. The students have been doing a great job keeping their girls clean and healthy. We can't wait to come back to Chicken Club!

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20

How true these words are! It is amazing to see the transformation one year can bring. In just a few months we turned this hard patch of dirt from an overgrown soccer field full of brush and w**ds into a bountiful oasis that produced over 2000lbs of food for the local communities! The vision for this program has been in our hearts for so long it is humbling to see it come to fruition.

As the year comes to a close, we are so thankful for the congregation at HollydaleUMC and Rev. Hull who believed in our calling to feed people. We are thankful for the hands who helped plant seeds and to harvest, and those that came to the markets to support our mission so that we can continue for another year.

For this new year we continue to pray for a community to grow around the garden so that we have many hands and feet serving like Christ. We welcome anyone to come join us in planting, harvesting, or in our special projects as we expand the Giving Garden.

We give all the glory to God and know that he will accomplish infinitely more than we have dreamed of for this program!

Such a blessing!

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

This small basket of squash and cucumbers may not look like much, but it is a testament to the provision of God and the faithfulness of those who said "yes" to God's call.

One year ago this April, Kevin made a call to Hollydale United Methodist Church for his work and while he was standing in their old soccer field it hit him- we should grow here! He called his dad and told him "We should build a farm at Hollydale to grow fresh produce for the community." His vision was shared by Pastor Terrance Hull and together with Kevin's dad, they created a plan to turn an old, overgrown soccer field into a bountiful market garden. With the blessing of elders of the church, the garden began to take shape.

A year after his first visit to Hollydale, Kevin and his family transformed the hard packed, w**d filled field as the earth was turned to soften it, compost was added to regenerate it, and the soil was hilled to create rows for the seedlings to be planted in. And now, after thousands of man hours, we can finally see the first fruits. This small basket is the first of many to come that will be donated to local families in need. The days and nights spent in the field will provide hundreds of pounds of fresh, local, nutrient rich foods to local farmers markets, food banks, and families.

"We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 1:3

Today, we were humbled as the congregation gathered together to bless the grounds, the plants, and the harvest to the glory of God. There has been and will be much more work, labor, and endurance needed throughout this growing season and the years to come as we continue to expand and serve the community but we are blessed indeed!
