K9 Duke Sniffs Out Methamphetamine in Search Warrant Sweeps.

On May 14, 2025, at approximately 7:16 p.m., the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit stopped a vehicle driven by Thomas Hayes, 66, of Santa Rosa, in Rohnert Park. Hayes was under investigation for narcotics activity. Detectives executed a search warrant on his vehicle and two Santa Rosa residences.

K9 Duke detected methamphetamine in a vehicle and at two separate residences. Hayes possessed about 2.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, packaging materials, digital scales, and over $2,000 in cash.

At one residence, Jimmy Hayes, 61, and Patrick Gooler, 59, both of Santa Rosa, were cited for misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Thomas Hayes was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for felony possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale. He qualified for $0 bail and was issued a citation.

We had the honor to serve our hero’s at the Military Working Dog Symposium. It was great to get back to the root of my K9 career where I was a Kennelmaster for the US Army Military Police Corps. “Of the Troops and for the Troops”.

Team Kiki serving the community, saving lives. Trained using the K9 OPSBOX System.

The Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit’s newest addition is a canine named Kiki. Kiki is partnered with his K9 handler, Detective M. Schneider. Kiki is named after DEA special agent Kiki Camarena, who was killed in the line of duty. Kiki was born in Ireland on March 3rd 2023. Kiki was purchased by Golden Gate K9, located in Santa Rosa, where she was trained on the detection of several types of drugs. Kiki is trained to detect the odor of Fentanyl, He**in, Methamphetamine and Co***ne. Kiki and Detective Schneider successfully passed their certification test on 1/21/2025 and are now fully deployable.

While Kiki is off-duty, she enjoys various hobbies ranging from playing fetch to chasing squirrels. Kiki loves attention and can commonly be found laying on her back waiting to receive belly rubs. In return, Kiki loves to share all of her toys. Kiki is very social and would love to make new friends so please come pay her a visit and say hi!
