Remembering the dedicated rescues who fought to the last moment and after for them. And who continue to implement and utilize all they can to make it impossible for such a thing to happen again.

This poem was written to the cats that I have lost over the years. I thank them for all they brought me with their companionship.

It has just been published in Katzenworld and I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate it to the cats and their owners of Champlain in remembrance of their lives as companions together.

In the end "all we are is cats"

Hi everyone, Today’s Purrsday Poetry post comes from Raffi Lido. Cats as radiant beings… Cat as luminous creature-otherworldly, ethereal, mystical, magical mischief. Woven into my life as tapestry. As poetry. Cat as clown, acrobat full of somersault bringing laughter. Dizzying, dazzling dervish ...

Well, Binx, you've shown us there is light in the darkness and the universe has brought you home.

Sweet dreams, little guy, and all those who are now the stars in the faraway skies.

An absolutely beautiful picture of Binx and the wonderful man he kept company with while he was waiting to be discovered for who he was.

The story: thanks to Kitty Campus and Marely Rios:
Thank you first responders ❤️
Since the story of Binx hit the news we have received a lot of messages and heard some really inspiring stories. These stories remind us of the good in people and of the amazing resilience of our furry friends. Today we would like to share one of those stories.
This is Andy Johnson from Florida task force 4 out of Orlando. Andy and his team were here in south Florida as part of the recovery efforts. He sent his wife this picture and told his wife the story of this amazing cat that was constantly visiting him and keeping him company.
At the time no one knew this kitty was a survivor. There are hundreds of community cats in the area surrounding Champlain towers which Kitty Campus helps care for. However this friendly black cat refused to be ignored and made his presence known. He would even sit in Andy’s chair and wait for him while he went back to work searching for victims. Even when he would come back after his long shift the cat would come running jump in his lap and help ease the burden of what he witnessed. The first responders fed the kitty and enjoyed his visits.
Thankfully a lady named Miranda working overnight shifts at the site (8pm to 7am) captured a picture of the kitty and started networking the cat on social media. Miranda’s post would eventually lead to everyone learning that the friendly kitty was Binx and he would be reunited with the Gonzalez family.
We would like to thank Miranda, Andy from Florida task force 4and all of our first responders for all that you did and do everyday.
We would also like to thank Binx the cat for taking care of our first responders who were on the ground dealing with this tragedy. Binx has brought everyone in our community a little hope.
We aren’t surprised at what Binx did for our first responders. Scientists have proven that interacting with animals increases levels of the hormone oxytocin. Oxytocin has a number of important effects on the body. It slows a person’s heart rate and breathing, reduces blood pressure, and inhibits the production of stress hormones. All of these changes help create a sense of calm and comfort.

Goodnight moon. Goodnight to the ones that are gone too soon and the rescues who tried so hard to rescue you.

Thank you so much, everyone who has come in to be a part of this page. It should be something that focuses on healing and comforting for all of us who are adjusting the realities that just transpired and from this we come to that which is a clear mind with one thing ahead- the changes that are needed to see that this never happens again and that those who did this injustice are dealt with.

If you want to be here at 10:30 tonight CENTRAL TIME I will do the karma on this and lift the negativity from it.

It does not mean you won't continue to mourn. It just means that part of the history of this will not be a complication to your work.

I like to think they all knew how loved they were. Cherished by their owners and loved by the world.

Welcome to the tribute page for the Champlain Animals. Heal your heart, light a candle, share your cats and anything you like to remember them.

This is for them and the relentlessly beautiful rescues who tried to save them. Somewhere they know it.
