Yesterday was a special day for our prison pups! The much awaited rotti babies, Regan and Apollo finally arrived! After a long delay, they received their medical clearance and were ready to go!
A special thank you to their awesome foster who not only kept them for us much longer than anticipated, but thanks to her training skills, they are already off to a great start!
These pups both have wonderful personalities, and handled their entrance into the world of prison training like little pro's...the sounds, sights and smells didn't bother them at all! They are being trained as potential service dogs and I am excited to watch their progress!
Stay tuned for updates !

Training happens all the time, but there's nothing dramatic or exciting about working with a reactive dog- the sole goal is to create a relaxed dog....sound on...
Hugs practicing good choices- learning to ignore food and other goodies , in this case a peanut butter cookie and some beef lung...
Part of the public access test includes eating out and ignoring dropped food and food on the floor- we'll keep increasing the value of the dropped goodies and continue to reinforce his good choices!
Another busy week with Dog and Cat Networking Agents and the prison pups! If you are interested in adopting any of the prison pups, please contact DNA for information!
Watching these pups blossom under the care and attention of their handlers is the most rewarding thing I have done as a trainer!
New pup Bentley, sweet Sally, and little Phoenix will all be looking for their forever homes soon!
Part 2 of the prison pups with Dog and Cat Networking Agents ! This beautiful girl is out on parole for a weekend trial but we got a little time for training outside the prison walls yesterday! When she first came in the program she was underweight, poor coat and a total wild child! Look at her now! Very proud of her progress and can't wait to get updates on her weekend visit- forever home hopefully!
This page has been a little quiet for a few weeks..mainly because I've been busy with our new prison program! Partnering with Dog and Cat Networking Agents to get dogs out of the shelter, trained and into forever homes! These dogs are so loved in the program, and their handlers are working hard to get them ready for new families! Basic skills, leash manners, and being OK with other dogs around them are just some of the things these pups are learning.
Not all of the pups shown are available for adoption right now, but follow us, and DNA to learn more about the wonderful pups that will be available for adoption!
Working hard this week! Tadsaw and future Tadsaw pups training and helping give a talk about the journey of self training a service dog.
Thank you Becca, Bri and Abigail for sharing your training journey and thanks to MCAC for inviting us to come talk today!!
I'll be out of town with no cell service or internet access from June 28-July 5th .
Training at the Market will resume on Saturday July 6th, at 9 am, at the Augusta Market.
CGC and CGCA evaluations are scheduled for Saturday, July 13th.
Have a great week!
Effective training encompasses more than just basic obedience cues, it also involves equipping our pups with protective gear for safety in various situations. With Aslan, introducing shoes was a gradual process that involved offering his favorite treats, cheese and blueberries, to encourage him to wear them. Once he was comfortable, we transitioned outside, maintaining a steady stream of rewards to motivate him to adapt to the new surface. Aslan needs his shoes for prison training and summer adventures, so making the process enjoyable and rewarding is crucial for his safety and enjoyment.
