Located in Northern Virginia, Friends of Homeless Animals has been serving the Washington metropolitan area since 1973. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill shelter dedicated to saving abandoned and abused dogs and cats. We provide rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption services in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC metropolitan areas.

🎉 Congratulations to the great group of cats and dogs who were adopted between September 6 and September 13: Cinnamon, Ethel, Jellyroll, Maisie, Marshmellow, Primrose, Soren, and Spots. ** NEW FACES ON THE WEBSITE **

New cats and dogs were recently added to the website! Here are a few of the newest AMAZING animals waiting to meet you: Amaya, Aries, Carver, Clove, and Sycamore. (more info in captions).

You can see all of our adoptable animals on our website. If you see one that might be a good fit for your family, submit an application (no obligation) or stop by the shelter between noon and 5pm on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you'd like to meet an animal in foster, please submit an application so we can arrange a meeting.

FOHA is a 501c3 rescue and all dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and on preventatives. Most of our animals are pulled from rural shelters to help them free up space, so every animal adopted or fostered opens a spot to save one more!

Even our long-stay, overlooked dogs and cats, and thanks to Subaru and Dulles Motorcars Leesburg, they’re getting the chance they deserve.

We’re so grateful for and their ongoing commitment to helping shelter animals find loving homes. Their support means waived adoption fees (10/17-10/19), new opportunities, and brighter futures for FOHA’s cats and dogs. 🐾

🐱 The FOHA Pets of the Week, Felix Jr and Marble, are still waiting to meet you! 🐶

🎉 Felix Jr. is five months old and new to FOHA. While volunteers are still getting to know him, they can share that he is quite sociable and has excellent litter box habits! Due to his young age, he needs to be adopted with another kitten or go to a home with a sociable cat who will teach him everything he needs to know about cat life!

🌟 Marble is a gorgeous German Shepherd who is loving and smart. She is observant, loyal, and loves chasing leaves! She would do best in an adult-only home as the only pet.

Meet Steffie, a 9-year-old, 53lb female Husky mix with the most striking bi-colored eyes. Although technically and older pup, she still has plenty of energy and playfulness – and look at that smile! She might seem a bit shy at first, but she’ll quickly open up and become your new best friend. She loves to play (particularly fetch), she does great in the car, and she’s housebroken too! Hello friends, I am Felix Jr, the FOHA Cat of the Week, and I’m a 6-month-old, 4lb male domestic shorthair. I’m a kitty who loves everyone – cats, adults, and kids! I love to play with toys and with other cats, and I also love to climb. My friends at FOHA say that I’m also really good at snuggling with my favorite people and finding great spots to nap in the sun.
