Good advice from our partners at Lost Dogs Georgia.

If your dog went missing from fireworks – don’t panic. Immediately put out your dog’s favorite blanket, some food and water, and something that smells like you (a dirty sock or pillowcase).

Tell EVERYONE – to not call or chase or whistle to your dog. Let him relax and he may very likely come home on his own when it is quiet. Do NOT let people congregate in your yard or driveway. Do NOT let them “search” for your dog. That will scare him more. Your dog is frightened and will stay in hiding until everything calms down. Use the energy of your friends and family that want to help to deliver flyers door to door in your neighborhood.

If you've lost or found a pet, please enter a report at https://petfbi.org

We're all-volunteer so all of our services are 100% free.

🚨 Extreme Heat Alert 🚨

Many areas are facing dangerous heat and humidity — and pets are at risk! If your community is feeling the heat, here are two simple ways you can help:

🐶💧 Leave a bowl of fresh water outside for lost or wandering pets. Refill frequently.

🐕‍🦺🌳 Check on outdoor pets to ensure they have plenty of shade and clean water.

Let’s look out for our four-legged neighbors! ❤️

If you’ve lost or found a pet, or for more tips, go to PetFBI.org.

July 4th pet safety - time to get ready! 🎇

More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Don’t be caught off guard! Fireworks can start soon.

Three important things to do now:

1. Update your pet’s microchip information.
2. Make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag. Tip – If you don’t have a tag, write your phone number on your pet’s collar with permanent marker.
3. Check backyard fences and gates plus all exterior doors to be sure they are secure. Keep your pet indoors or on a leash.

Today is National Lost Dog Awareness Day. Lost Dogs of America created National Lost Dog Awareness Day in 2014 to bring attention to all dogs that are lost each year, while also celebrating the many lost dogs successfully reunited with their families. The day aims to give hope to families still looking for their dogs and to remind the public that not all stray dogs are homeless dogs. 🐾

It's National Pet ID Week, a reminder to all pet parents to review and update their pet’s ID. Having up-to-date ID gives your pet the best chance of being recovered should they ever get lost. 🐾

• Make sure your pet is microchipped.
• Ensure that the contact information for the microchip is current.
• Be sure your pet is wearing an ID tag with your current phone number.

Has March come in like a lion in your area? 🦁 If you are experiencing high winds and severe weather, here are some suggestions to keep your pets safe! 🐕🐈💨

• Be sure gates are closed and fences are secure before letting your dog outside.
• Check that collars are properly fitted, and leashes are securely attached.
• Secure exterior doors so they don’t accidentally blow open, allowing a pet to escape.
• Make sure your pet is wearing an ID tag.
• Keep a tight hold on the leash when walking. The sound of the wind or items being blown about can startle a pet.

Great advice from our partners at Lost Dogs of Wisconsin.

🚨 Keep Your Pets Safe Near Water! 🚨
As February ends and temps rise, bodies of water go through a dangerous freeze-thaw cycle. At Lost Dogs of Wisconsin, we’ve seen drowning remain the #2 cause of death for missing dogs ( #1 hit by cars. #3 hit by trains).
🐾 Prevention is key! Keep your dog leashed near water to avoid accidents.
💧 If your dog is lost, place fresh water near feeding stations so they don’t seek out unsafe water sources.
🚫 Never chase, call, or approach a lost dog—panic can send them running onto thin ice.
Spread the word and help keep our furry friends safe! 🐶❤️

The Pet FBI Story

Pet FBI was founded in 1998 by Maresa Fanelli, a retired French professor looking for a way to consolidate information about lost and found pets. After a distressing experience trying to recover a lost cat, Fanelli conceived the idea of a free interactive online database for lost and found reports where worried pet owners and good Samaritans could connect quickly and efficiently.

Pet FBI was started in Columbus, Ohio, but has since expanded to cover the entire United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. It continues to be volunteer-run and posting a report is always free of charge.
