☀️ A bright start to the weekend at church market ☀️

Set up our little stall at the church market this morning and it turned out to be such a good day.

Met so many lovely people, had great chats, and really felt the support from everyone around us.

These moments remind us why we love what we do — not just the bees, but the people, the conversations, and the feeling of being part of a community 🐝💛

Beekeeping isn’t always sweet and sunny — the weather can flip, the bees don’t always listen, and surprises are part of the job. But one thing’s for sure: we’re raising the next generation to love the bees just as much as we do.

Over the past two days, we visited several of our beehive hosting clients across Melbourne. Most of the hives are doing really well — they already have honey stores and plenty of drones. It looks like the colonies are getting ready for spring, which really shows how important it is to have a strong, high-quality queen.

With the arrival of the Varroa mite threat, this is even more critical. We carried out alcohol washes on most of the hives and thankfully found no mites. That’s a good sign, but Varroa mites is like a pandemic in the beekeeping world — if it spreads, we will all be affected.

What matters most now is early detection and prompt action. The sooner we find it, the better chance we all have to protect our bees. 🐝

From loading hives in the stillness of the night to placing them in almond orchards at first light, every step is part of an essential mission: pollination.

Almond trees can’t produce nuts without cross-pollination — and that’s where honeybees come in. Each bee visits thousands of blossoms a day, transferring pollen that turns flowers into almonds.

It’s hard work, but it’s the heartbeat of the season — supporting farmers, boosting yields, and keeping our food system thriving.
