🐝 Passing the smoker, passing the torch.
Beekeeping isn’t always sweet and sunny — the weather can flip, the bees don’t always listen, and surprises are part of the job. But one thing’s for sure: we’re raising the next generation to love the bees just as much as we do.

From the back of the ute to the front of the hive — every little step counts. 💪👨‍👦
Because beekeeping isn’t just about honey — it’s about heart, hands, and heritage.

🐾 Little feet, big boots to fill.
🌦 Unpredictable days, unforgettable memories.

Over the past two days, we visited several of our beehive hosting clients across Melbourne. Most of the hives are doing really well — they already have honey stores and plenty of drones. It looks like the colonies are getting ready for spring, which really shows how important it is to have a strong, high-quality queen.

With the arrival of the Varroa mite threat, this is even more critical. We carried out alcohol washes on most of the hives and thankfully found no mites. That’s a good sign, but Varroa mites is like a pandemic in the beekeeping world — if it spreads, we will all be affected.

What matters most now is early detection and prompt action. The sooner we find it, the better chance we all have to protect our bees. 🐝

🌅 Dawn to Dusk: Bees at Work, Farmers at Heart

Before sunrise, after sunset — we work side by side with our bees.
From loading hives in the stillness of the night to placing them in almond orchards at first light, every step is part of an essential mission: pollination.

Almond trees can’t produce nuts without cross-pollination — and that’s where honeybees come in. Each bee visits thousands of blossoms a day, transferring pollen that turns flowers into almonds.

It’s hard work, but it’s the heartbeat of the season — supporting farmers, boosting yields, and keeping our food system thriving.

Brrr… it’s winter time! Our busy bees are having a little nap, and so are we.
A big thank you to Nicole Allemand and mum for the tea towel now sitting on our table — it makes our honey hut feel extra cosy!

We’ve also added some tiny buzzing bees around to keep things cheerful.
Don’t forget to rug up this winter… and pair your favourite tea with our honey! 🍯🐝🧣

World Bee Day — A Tough Season for Our Bees

Today, on World Bee Day, we want to do more than celebrate bees — we want to speak honestly.

This season has been one of the most difficult since we began our beekeeping journey.
Unusually dry conditions, extreme weather swings, and the looming threat of Varroa mites have all taken a heavy toll on our hives.

Some days, the flowers just didn’t bloom.
Some days, the bees struggled to fly.
And the hardest part? Watching healthy colonies weaken, knowing that more challenges are still ahead.

But we’re not giving up.
We stand with the bees — and with every small beekeeper doing their best to keep these tiny pollinators alive.

What can you do?

Support your local beekeeper

Buy raw, local honey

Plant bee-friendly flowers

Stay informed about the Varroa mite crisis

Together, we can make a difference — one hive, one flower, one choice at a time.

Thank you for standing with the bees.

This Mother’s Day feels extra sweet.
Our second baby joined the family recently, and just like that—I became a mum of two.

Between the newborn cuddles and the buzzing of our beehives, I’m reminded of how beautiful and busy motherhood can be.

Bees work together with love, care, and tireless devotion—just like mums do.
To all the incredible mothers (and queen bees) out there, I see you, I feel you, and I celebrate you.

Wishing you a Mother’s Day full of warmth, sweetness, and a little peace if you’re lucky. 🥳

Surprise! A Full Bee Colony in a Possum Box

A customer recently reached out after discovering bees in their old possum box—and it turns out, they’ve been there for quite a while.

This wasn’t just a recent swarm. The colony had already built extensive combs and stored a fair amount of honey, indicating they’ve been living there for awhile.

We’ll be carefully relocating this established colony into proper hive gear to give them a safe new home.

Bees never stop working – even in a possum box!!!!
