It has been a tough year for beekeepers. We’re experiencing a nectar shortage due to the weather. As queen producers and breeders, this year has been the worst. Bees and queens are flying away from hunger, and we’re losing so many boxes every day.

Every year presents new challenges, and we continue to learn and adapt over time.

We're not just beekeepers selling honey; we are also queen breeders, producing and breeding high-quality queens with good genetics for backyard and commercial beekeepers.

Did you know how many eggs a queen bee can lay in a day? When she's young and fertile, a queen can lay up to 2,000 eggs daily. However, her productivity declines after 1-2 years.

Requeening is a crucial aspect of beekeeping. It helps improve the hive's temperament and productivity.

Here’s how queen bees become queen bees: through queen cells.

In the beehives, there is a variety of cells that differ in shape, position, and size. By observing them, we can understand what’s happening in the hive. Are the bees preparing to swarm? Are they queenless?

As a queen breeder and producer, we carefully select the genetics and bloodlines, working with strong colonies known as 'cell builders' to help us raise quality queens.

Simply put, without queen cells, there are no queens. It takes 1.5 - 2.5 weeks for these cells to hatch, for the queens to mate, and for them to start laying eggs.

That's how a queen bee's life begins.

Do you ever wonder how we prepare your queen bee orders? Jack has been harvesting for the past two days and tirelessly grafting queens. Queen rearing is no easy task—it involves meticulous planning and careful record-keeping of the conditions in each mating yard. Thinking about the fact that we have more than 600 boxes like these in different location, Jack has repeated this process over 1,000 times.

We’re working hard, just like the bees.

We're so glad to see Spotty doing so well and continuing to nourish the hive with her offspring. She will keep contributing this year, and we’ll be grafting stock from her line later this week.

Sometimes queen rearing requires a bit of creativity and artistic flair. The reason we do this is to help our bees and queens easily recognize their home in the mating yard.

Does it work?

Yes, it does!

Each bee colony lives in a uniquely designed house!!!

Queen rearing is part of the art of beekeeping. 🐝🐝🐝🐝

At the start of this season, we'll begin grafting endlessly!!! (just joking about doing it endlessly!) to produce queen bees.

The weather, timing, and schedule are crucial, and every part must be followed precisely. Nothing can be missed.🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
