Now more than ever, it's important to get outside (while maintaining a safe social distance, of course)! Hitting the trail can do wonders for both your physical and mental health.

One day it’s sweater weather, the next day it’s tshirt weather 🥶🥵 here’s a podcast episode about canicrossing in the heat, and how you can decide whether or not it’s safe (usually easier to be overly cautious when considering heat and humidity)

The whole series has a lot of great episodes for some canicross info!

Listen to this episode from Canicross Made Simple on Spotify. The warmer months are fast approaching. Summer will be here before we know it and with that comes the dangers of high temps and humidity. Our amazing listener - Hannah wants to know if she can still canicross in the summer. Listen in to f...

Release your dog's potential.

As it starts to warm up, it’s important to always make sure runs are safe for your canine partner.

Heading out earlier, staying in shaded trails, and avoiding high humidity are a couple of ways to safely enjoy the nice weather for longer.

Overheating and dehydration can come on quickly, so it’s always good to review the signs and how to respond to each.

Potentially serious if left untreated, dehydration and overheating can be prevented by recognizing early warning signs. While field dogs are especially vulnerable, these conditions can impact all dogs.

While races are getting cancelled left and right and group training is a bust, it’s a perfect time to bring it back to the basics.

Indoor training time can be so useful for canicross. Harness up and attach the line to a table leg and work on the perfect “line out.” Practice directional cues around cones (or a gallon jug) or use leg weaving.

Just because you’re sitting inside daydreaming of canicross races doesn’t mean you can’t work towards them 🐕—🏃🏼‍♀️

Let’s focus on our training during the pandemic. Who would have thought the world coming to a halt with the outbreak of Coronavirus would make us take heed in getting our dogs to run for us and not just with us? 😉 I have received lots of messages this week as folk have hit...

Looking for some fun over Memorial Day weekend? Come check out the Gunstock TrailFest! They have a dedicated canicross 5k race, with two waves to separate bigger and faster dogs from the smaller guys. Last year this event was held at Pineland farms and had a turnout of just under 200 dogs! Check out the link to the event below!

How big do dogs need to be to run canicross? They can be any size! The smaller the dog the less power they have from their stride, but small breeds such as the Jack Russel Terrier have a tremendous amount of heart when canicrossing!

New England Canicross is live! Working with North American Canicross to promote proper canicross in New England.

We hope to have some regular meetups for runners of all levels. Eventually plan on some gear education and maybe a clinic or two!

For more info on what canicross is, visit: https://nacanicross.com/

Canicross is running cross country with your dog. The difference between canicross and just regular trail running your dog, is that canicross is powered by the dog! Special harnesses are used to allow the dog to have optimal and comfortable pulling. Dogs are connected by a bungee lead: no longer tha...
