My name is Cara. This morning I went to the dog park and then I got to see my dog park friends again in the afternoon at one of their houses! What a surprise! I didn't like the deep swimmimg pool, but the rest was fun - especially the brisket, chicken and bacon-wrapped scallop! Boy was I tired when we got home. A little while ago when it got dark I started hearing some booms outside. I barked at them before I came and looked out the window. The lady said they are fireworks and I am a good girl for not hiding or shaking. She said to tell you "Happy 4th!" I'm going back to bed now.

Kathy: I know you did.

Cara: When I saw that lady walking towards us, I looked right up at you for a treat instead of pulling toward her.

Kathy: Yes, you did. And I gave you one. And then I held a treat in front of your nose for you to focus on while we kept walking.

Cara: And I was doing good, staying right by your side and not looking at the lady. But then she talked. What did she say?

Kathy: She said "Been there, done that."

Cara: What did you think about that?

Kathy: I thought, "Good. She'll know to keep moving." But I was wrong.

Cara: Because then she started talking to me?

Kathy: Exactly! And that's when you started jumping, pulling and whining.

Cara: I couldn't help it.

Kathy: I know. We'll keep working on it.

Just as we were coming in from outside, the sky started howling, really loud, for a whole minute. The lady said they were testing the tornado siren, whatever that means. Then, even weirder, SHE started mimicking it because she wanted "pictures of my cute head tilts." I hope she knows I'm not falling for that again!

Cara here. Every time I think I have this new place figured out, something different happens. This evening when the lady got home from errands, she took me into this room under the house, gave me a no-hide stick I usually love, and climbed into this box. I couldn't see, but from the steam and the bubbling sound I think it was boiling water! I couldn't see her, except every few minutes she stood up, laughed at me, said "awww" and told me it was OK to lie down and eat my stick. No it wasn't! I had to stand here just like this and watch the whole time! She said being in the box felt good and she's going to go in more often, but I just don't know what to think about that!

So I've lived here for 5 months and the lady never cared that I didn't want to go down these stairs. Then all of a sudden it was a big deal this morning. I don't understand why, but I got about half of a bacon cheeseburger!

Was I dreaming or was there a dusting of cold white stuff all over everything three hours ago? I don't know why the lady didn't take a picture so you could see what I'm talking about; she said it was no big deal, everyone knows what it looks like and she already has more than enough pictures of snow!

I was afraid to go out when she first opened the door, but after I carefully investigated it on the deck I decided it was safe. Just one more thing to sniff, along with every blade of grass and every fallen leaf! The lady was doing what she calls singing, sounded like "I gotta go where there ain't any snow . . ."

No more eye drops! No more anti-inflammatory squirted into my mouth! No more vet visits unless I get sick! And NO MORE CONE!

What a day! First the vet, then school where I got a certificate, then home where all of a sudden I got this thing stuck...

What a day! First the vet, then school where I got a certificate, then home where all of a sudden I got this thing stuck on me! It's so I don't lick my paw anymore. The doctor said it looks like something stung me right in the middle of all my paw pads, and I licked it too much so it got infected. So now I have to take medicine and have ointment rubbed in my paw. I hope it works fast so I can get rid of this thing!
