Most likely if you feel it, it happened.

Housing discrimination has been at play in this country since the start of time. It’s only going to get worse.

ASK THE PIT BULL DOCTOR: Should you adopt or buy your pit bull puppy if you're concerned about potential for aggression later in life.

This is a valid and important question to consider. People make their choices for different reasons. While many will tell you to adopt don't shop, but hat isn't my belief.

I believe families should do what's best for them.

If adopting is best for you, adopt. If purchasing is best for you, purchase. Please just make sure to go to a reputable source.

✅Prioritize temperament and health
✅Be clear about what you're looking for in your puppy
✅Do your due diligence (temperament testing, fostering) to make sure your puppy matches your lifestyle.
❌ Don't go to a breeder of working pit bulls if you're looking for a low energy, friendly dog
❌Don't go to a breeder that doesn't allow you to meet the puppy's parents or visit where they keep their puppies
❌ Don't go to a shelter or rescue that encourages you to take any dog without considering whether they're a match

Like any dog, their behavior comes down to how they’re bred, raised, trained, and treated.

Research shows there’s no line between a dog’s breed and aggression, so where’s the myth of inherent aggression come from? 🤔

Before you bring your dog into a restaurant, grocery store, or other non-dog friendly venue, are you sure it’s a service dog or is it an emotional support animal?

Don’t know the difference? ☝🏾

The main difference is training and access rights. Service dogs are extensively trained to assist their handlers while emotional support animals don’t require any training and provide emotional support through their mere presence.

Service dogs have public access rights anywhere the public is allowed. Emotional support animals only have access to housing and air travel.

Many people don’t know this and I’m not too much of a rule-enforcer but it is illegal in most states to impersonate a service dog. If you haven’t done the training, please leave your dog at home.

If you’re looking for a new puppy, be careful!

It’s hard to tell a reputable breeder from a backyard breeder if you don’t know what to look for

These are just a few of many 🚩you may notice if your potential breeder isn’t reputable.

Your breeder should always allow you to see where they keep their pups

You should always meet at least one of the parents depending on their setup

They should focus on at most two breeds and shouldn’t keep a lot of dogs on site. Too many dogs is a huge 🚩

How did we go from an unwarranted and uninvited interaction between my dog and a stranger’s dog to threatening to call the police because I pointed out the need for dog training? And what was the “on accident” part? Shouldn’t he have been focused on apologizing? What was he even going to tell the police? “She said my dog needs training”? I doubt he even thought about any of this. He just went to the first thing that he thought of to shut me up, which was racism and violence. Btw, the dog was some type of doodle.
