Guardians of Rescue We are a non-profit organization whose members work tirelessly to protect the well-being of animals. This program is a very important aspect of our mission.

Programs

Our programs are designed to provide assistance in a broad range of scenarios, to provide needed assistance, to educate, to motivate, and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. Give me Shelter

This program works to ensure that all animals are provided with proper protection from the elements. The program’s initiatives include volunteers patrolling for animals in situatio

ns without proper protection and adequate food and water, workshops on shelter construction, gathering supplies, and mass shelter assembly days. Guardians of Rescue will be providing shelters free of charge to any and all dogs and cats in need. With this program, we will be joining forces with numerous organizations including organized labor, law enforcement and fellow animal welfare groups in order to maximize the resources needed to assist animals in need. Helping Families:

This program is designed to keep families together. It provides pet food and supplies to anyone in need due to a catastrophic event, or to families in need due to economic reasons. Home Again: Operation Support Our Troops

This program is a part of our Veterans and Military Affairs efforts, assisting returning service men and women in adopting a dog or cat from an animal shelter when they return home or bringing back a pet rescued during their deployment. Guardians of Rescue volunteers act as a special shelter liaison, helping with selection, completion of the adoption process, and training for both the animal and owner. We assist with the logistics of getting a pet home from the area where the service men and women are deployed, and making sure the animal adapts to US life, by providing whatever training is needed. Many men and women in the service are also faced with the dilemma of pet care when deployed on active duty, and are often stuck with no positive alternatives. Animals they adopt while on deployment are in need of safe transport home, and this can be difficult to organize. The therapeutic benefit these animals provide is immeasurable, and these men and women need our support. Next Generation Guardians: Humane Education
The Next Generation Guardians are a group of young people from all walks of life. Their goal is to “learn the ropes” of animal rescue, and be the change for our future. It is presented at public middle schools, high schools, Boy & Girl Scout troops, vocational schools and residential facilities for at risk youth. This program encompasses a number of animal welfare related topics, such as:

• How to recognize the signs of animal abuse and neglect, and how to report it in the proper manner.
• How to fight animal abuse and help defend creatures that cannot themselves.
• Why dog fighting is wrong and morally reprehensible and why it cannot be tolerated. To further the impact of our Humane Education program and further empower students, Guardians of Rescue works with schools and school districts to organize food and supply drives to benefit their local shelters, and assist them with our “Sponsor a Shelter Pet” initiative. Help us Help Them! If you want to volunteer for any of these programs, please complete an application on our website at guardiansofrescue.org. TOGETHER we can save them!

Everyone is asking about little Tesha, the 6-week-old puppy who was horribly burned.

Under Guardians watch and with lots of intensive veterinary care, Tesha is healing slowly. Anti-inflammatories, pain medication and antibiotics, plus twice- daily sliver salve treatments are starting to pay off!

Today, Tesha got her surgical suit, which means NO MORE CONE!!! She is a much happier little pup.

Brave little Tesha has lots of healing ahead, and is not out of the woods by any means, but this is a huge step in the right direction!

And you will be pleased to know that two people have been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and false report of a crime.

Stay tuned for updates on the healing and legal fronts.

If you'd like to chip in for Tesha's care, you can do that here:

Everyone is very concerned and asking to know how little Tesha is doing. This is our report on Tesha's condition on Day 4.

Tesha had her second sedated bandage change and wound cleaning. This brave little puppy has been transported to a higher level of care facility for further assessment and a treatment plan.

We still don't know what surgery is needed or even possible, but the vet expenses are piling up.

If you'd like to help little Tesha with even a small donation, you can do that here:

𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝟒𝐓𝐇 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘

Tomorrow can be a lot of fun, but we are reminded that more pets go missing July 4-6 than any other time of year. Although some cats retreat from the scary noises, it is primarily dogs who fall victim, and Animal Control officials across the nation report a 30% to 60% increase in lost pets each year between those dates.

Although on a holiday, fireworks are the obvious culprit, dogs are frightened and run away from other loud noises, like thunderstorms, so the problem is year-round to that extent.

To protect your animal companion on tomorrow's big holiday, try to keep your dog indoors, ideally with someone at home with him or her. Mask the fireworks sounds as much as possible by closing windows, playing music or turning on the TV. Also keep your dog leashed when going out for walks, to avoid any startled escapes.

And perhaps most importantly, to prepare for the worst-case scenario, make sure your dog wears ID.

Even if your dog is chipped, an ID tag on his or her collar is the fastest way for someone who finds your dog to get in touch and get your dog home quickly. Not everyone is knowledgeable enough to suspect that a collarless dog has a microchip, and even if they do, they must find someone or somewhere to have the dog scanned, and not everyone is able or willing to take on this extended task. But almost everyone has a phone with them, and a phone number on a tag can be a quick ticket to a happy reunion.

As always, prevention is the best cure. Keep an extra-tight watch on your animal family during the noisy festivities, and that will make sure it truly is a Happy Holiday.

We need your help now, and you'll see why...

It's hard to know where to begin telling you this, but here goes—

This difficult and sad story begins with a call to the police in rural Georgia about a puppy who the caller thought had been stabbed.

Guardians was called in and discovered a 6-week old puppy, since named Tesha by one of her vet techs, in agonizing pain and distress from a severe but puzzling injury to her hindquarters.

After intensive examination, running through the possible explanations for the injury including stabbing, a dog attack or contact with a caustic chemical, it was determined to be thermal burning, covering much more than her hindquarters—clearing the way for a closer look we could see that the burns went all the way from the base of the puppy's neck to her tail.

Her flesh looked as if it had been cooked...that is a terrible kind of pain...

Even with pain medication the frightened little dog could not even tolerate a gentle rub on the head. Can you imagine this being done to a little puppy? This is now an active cruelty case—even the police officers are incensed at this horrifically painful abuse of a baby dog.

After 5 days in the local veterinary ER, Tesha is being transferred to a more advanced vet hospital, and then will head to an out-of-state specialty practice to examine the possibility of skin grafts. There is no guarantee that this will be possible, due to Tesha's early stage of development, where her tissue may not regrow in the right way for proper healing. But if you were able to look into her eyes, you'd know we have to give her every chance.

This is a long haul, and a gamble—but we look at poor Tesha and there is no way we care not going to try—EVERYTHING—to help her recover. If it doesn't work—it's much too soon to think that way.

We have to give her every chance, and we knew you would want us to.

If you looked into her pained but hopeful eyes, you'd move mountains to end her pain and make her a happy dog with a long life ahead of her.

It will take the medical equivalent of moving mountains to help her, and it will be expensive. we can't do it without the help of many people who are just as determined to help this innocent puppy fight her way back.

Can you please chip in to get Tesha through the extensive treatment and care she will need to really live again? Every dollar counts, and if enough caring people give a little, it will turn in to a lot—but can you imagine the joy we'll all feel to see Tesha pain-free and living a happy dog life?

Tesha will likely always bear the proof of her ordeal on her back, but it will also be a symbol of her courage and will, and of the many friends she will never meet but who helped to erase her suffering and make possible her recovery.

This was hard to write, and it's hard to ask for help—but can you imagine how hard it is for Tesha to live it?

Thank you for being on Team Tesha and helping this innocent puppy in her time of extreme need.

Together we save them,
Guardians of Rescue

𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐓—𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐍𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄

We thought you'd like to meet these adorable little dogs, Candi and Scout, a boy and a girl, who were surrendered to Guardians by a backyard breeder.

Once just regarded as living puppy-making machines, they will now be valued as they should, as feeling individuals deserving of love and respect. And they're going to get plenty of those!

While the breeder intended to only release Scout, our skilled and dedicated Guardian KB persuaded them give us the little girl too.

These two little guys were all the animals remaining on the breeder's property, except for some very large dogs, who are all moving this week and going to a local rescue where they will be readied for adoption.

With plenty of love and care, there can be a good life after puppy mills, and because of your support of Guardians, these two liberated little dogs are now finding that out.

In the dark shadows of the "backyard" commercial dog-breeding industry, countless female dogs endure lives of relentless breeding and neglect.

Known as "Puppy Mill Moms," these suffering females are often hidden away in deplorable conditions, their well-being ignored and sacrificed for profit. But thanks to the tireless efforts of Guardians and our compassionate volunteers , some of these silent victims are finally finding their way to freedom.

Their journeys to recovery are long and arduous, but the transformations are remarkable. With patience, love, and specialized care, these once-broken souls begin to trust, to play, and to experience the simple joys of being a dog. They learn what it means to be cherished, often finding solace in the company of other rescued animals and the unwavering support of their caregivers.

The success stories of these rescued "Puppy Mill Moms" show us that we can't count anyone out too soon—these brave dogs have an important lesson to teach us, and we are learning from them every day.

For these Moms and any animal in trouble,

Chance has transformed since his rescue by Guardians. This change demonstrates the impact of environment on a dog's behavior.

Initially, confined to a chain, Chance exhibited extreme aggression. This behavior was fueled by his frustration at his virtual imprisonment, and worsened by his lack of socialization due to neglect.

Adding to his distress, Chance's ears suffered from fly strike, a painful condition where flies lay eggs on damaged skin. The combination of his confined living situation and untreated medical issue paints a sad picture of neglect. It's no wonder he was frustrated and angry.

It's heartwarming to see him now loved and cared for, and to witness the positive change brought about by his rescue and subsequent care. When Guardians Of Rescue intervened and removed him from this restrictive environment, his aggressive behaviors vanished, revealing a calmer, safer dog.

It's only with the support from many caring people that Guardians is able to give dogs like Chance, a real....well, you know!

Guardians Of Rescue answered the call from Law Enforcement to help remove six dogs who had been dumped on a rural property in Kentucky.

The man who lives on the property knew he could not take care of so many dogs, and he made the responsible decision to surrender all of them to Guardians .

This thoughtful act ensures the dogs will receive the necessary medical attention, proper nutrition, and ultimately, find loving homes where they can thrive.

One of the dogs on the property, Chance, was deemed highly aggressive, but once our team met Chance they knew this was only fear, and that he was reacting in pain from the fly strike on his ears.

We will keep you updated on this case and Chance's progress over the next few days !

Can you help?

In the sweltering heat, neglected and care-deprived dogs often seek relief from the pain of thirst by drinking from any available water source, regardless of its quality.

Muddy, stagnant water becomes an unfortunate oasis for these animals, desperate to hydrate themselves. However, this drinking comes with consequences, as such water is often teeming with bacteria and parasites, posing serious health risks.

Adding to their distress, the heat and humidity create a breeding ground for fleas and ticks, which latch onto the dogs, causing further irritation and potential disease transmission.

Pictured is Ella, one of the senior dogs from a current case, being cared for by Guardians and treated for her ailments caused by her terrible prior neglect in a hoarding situation.

These dogs are safe now but there are others still suffering that we will be helping, and we really need your support.

All donations add up to new lives for the animals you have helped Guardians to rescue—can you imagine if every person reading this gave $5—or $1— how many animals that would help?

Our boy Phoenix, found in bad shape abandoned in a gas station, is still healing, but he's feeling much better and enjoying learning.

He might have jumped the gun a little on "Come!", but we're glad he's that happy and excited.

Thanks to everyone who has donated to his recovery!
