๐ Yesterday still bright sunshine and today snow almost down to the valley โ๏ธ it can happen that quickly. โบ๏ธ This great rooster will be moving to a new breeder next week and will be allowed to lead a group of Ischler dwarf hens there. It has been tested for pure genetics and can therefore pass on the green layer 100%. ๐ช
The children were also allowed to stand in front of the lens in the autumn leaves. โฅ๏ธ They have all grown into really handsome roosters now and it won't be long until they can go to their hens. ๐ฅฐ I will put together my breeding lines in December. I hope that the Dominicans also become more famous. ๐คฉ

My Rocky's โฅ๏ธ Today I unpacked my good camera again and photographed, among other things, my Amrocks roosters ๐คฉ these are my last 5 roosters, one more beautiful than the other and each one has its advantages. 3 are coming to the Austrian Amrocks special show in mid-November.
I kept these 2 beautiful hens in the color brown - black double lined ๐ค As I have mentioned many times, I will no longer breed the Barnevelders as I already have enough large breeds. That's why after the exhibition the rooster and 2 hens moved to a new home. But these two hens just have to stay here because they are not only beautiful, they also lay great, big brown eggs. ๐ฅฐ The character of the quiet Barnevelders is also pleasant and they will have a great time in my colorful group.

The boys are also back in their little men's shared apartment ๐ it will still take a while until I put the breeding lines together and they get to the hens. First you have to carefully select which animals go into a breeding group. ๐ It was amazing how peaceful the reunion was after the show this year for all breeds - the roosters usually don't get along anymore after they've been separated for a few days. What pleased me most this year was the evaluation of the Dominicans. At the moment I am the only breeder in Austria. I hope that changes soon. ๐

A few more photos of my beautiful roosters. ๐ฅฐ I haven't decided yet which 2 roosters are allowed to go to the exhibition, so I'll decide in the next few days. All 5 that I have now have potential and each have extremely good qualities. ๐คฉ Choosing which roosters you use for breeding does not necessarily have to be the rooster with the best rating, no, it depends on the characteristics that the rooster has and the hens may not. Here you have to choose wisely and not just look at the rating card! I have often had roosters that were not at any exhibition but were the best choice for me.
๐ฝ๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐๐๐ง ๐ค my Barnevelder rooster can also present himself with 3 of his hens at our exhibition next weekend. ๐ฅฐ A few more weeks would be good for his tail plumage so that it would be fully developed, but I think he looks quite stately and will certainly be admired a lot because the brown-black double-lined color is really beautiful to look at.

Rocky's โฅ๏ธ The Amrocks roosters are always a very special experience for my visitors... everyone is amazed at how big they are and at the same time how quiet it is here in the men's shared apartment. ๐ This year they are already very developed. The older ones are from the end of January, the others from the end of February.
My family and I live peacefully next to each other in my Hahnen shared apartment. Here you can see the size difference very clearly. The Dominicans have now reached their size and have become really stately, elegant roosters. ๐ช

I added this very rare dwarf breed this year. Robert .huhn took the hatching eggs for me, they come from Germany from a great breeder... I would like to thank you very much for that. ๐ I then bought 2 young hens in Austria. The animals have developed extremely nicely and will soon start laying. As the name suggests, German Dwarf Sparrowhawks come from Germany. According to the standard, the rooster weighs up to 1.1kg and the hens weigh up to 900g. They lay around 120 eggs a year that weigh up to 40 grams. have. Some breeders even speak of a much better laying performance. ๐ They are also extremely good foragers and quite alert. But they can also become very tame if you put in a little effort. โฅ๏ธ From 2024 I will have dwarf sparrowhawk hatching eggs. ๐๐ฅณ

The New Year's Chicks are here. ๐ ๐ค 4 of the chicks hatched yesterday and this afternoon I took the chicks that had already hatched out of the incubator because they were already very lively. ๐ Put the remaining eggs back in the incubator, sprayed with water and of course filled up the water in the incubator. This must always be done very quickly in order not to destroy the brood climate. The following have hatched: Exchequer Leghorn (in my hand), dwarf Marans, a few Amrocks, dwarf silk chickens, dwarf Marans, Ischler dwarfs, Steinpiperl, very dark olive layers and a few interesting mixes, for example. The longer the laying period lasts, the lighter the eggs become. This is quite normal and is also the case with the Marans. With an average egg weight of 45gr. they lay eggs just as large as the dwarf marans and need less than half the food than the larger breeds such as the. the Amrocks.
That's also a reason why I've become a big fan of these dwarves. ๐ฅฐ
