ARF GIVES BACK We believe in giving back to our communities and tend to follow the 80/20 model where we spend 80% of our time working and 20% of our time volunteering.
We do it for the fun, the learning opportunities, the chance to meet new people and of course for that warm and fuzzy satisfied feeling.
See below in the comment section for a partial list of community service projects ARF Oregon is involved in. If you'd like to get involved, and don't know where to start, feel free to contact us! Like a German Short-Haired Pointer, we love POINTING people in the right direction!
The month of November brought to you by: The Central Oregon Trail Alliance.
ARF uses a lot of the trails and as such are proud to be annual members. And engage in a bit of trail work to give back.
So on a recent Saturday morning, I joined a small crew of community members and for 3 hours we partnered with the BLM to help decommission an old road.
Everyone had a roll from digging holes, to dragging downed tree branches to cover the road, to my job: planting tons of little baby sage brushes. 🌱💛
Getting my hands dirty, I spent most of the morning on hands and knees crawling along the dirt road from one still potted sage brush to the next, gently pulling them out of their pots and placing them gently into the ground. The morning was made all the better as I chatted and laughed and made new friends with the others who came out to help.
I think I also made friends with the baby sage brushes as I would gently pat the soil around each sage brush after I was done planting them while whispering “grow strong”.
