So exciting news! Entries will b opening on 4th September. We will start to publish some rules as to how to enter and what is required for each class. We will publish an album for each class in advance of entries opening, which is where you will b able to post your entries for the appropriate class. If you have any questions or queries pls feel free to ask.

Meet our final judge

Jon Rudbach

Again, we are very grateful to all our judges for offering to give up their time to judge our competition. Below is an introduction to Jon, for those of you who don’t know him.

Hi my name is Jon Rudbach, I have been around dogs for more years than I can remember. I first got into showing dogs with a rescue Great Dane, I showed her at exemption shows just as a bit of fun and got the bug, and started showing in 1980. I have shown and judged since then and giving CC in Great Danes and Clumber Spaniels in the last five years. I have made up two Show Champions in clumbers and have always been a believer of fit for purpose and have competed in working tests and worked my clumbers on the beating line since 2004.

Meet our next judge, this time for the Working Tests.

Andrew Parker

“I have been part of the gundog world all my life. I’m a game keeper on the North Yorkshire Moors and use my dogs as part of my job. I have been part of minor breeds for 9 years, in which time I have got into the competition side of gun dogs. I have taken part in working tests and field trials, having had success in both disciplines, with 4 different Clumber spaniels.”

Here’s our Open working test challenge. Hope that you will all enjoy the challenge and give it a good go. You will need an assistant to video your attempt (one, unedited video required for entry) and if you have an assistant for dummy throwing that would b great. However, if you don’t have that extra person, u can manage to do this challenge yourself with a bit of multitasking! Get practising and we are looking forwards to seeing some entries once we open classes soon.

Meet our first judge .....

Ellis O'grady

Ellis will be judging the novelty/trick classes. Below is her introduction to you all, giving you all an insight into her training experience with clumbers. Hope you are all ready to impress her with your clumber’s skills and tricks.

I fell in love with Clumber spaniels after meeting my first one in person when I started a new job around 10 years ago and it’s safe to say all this time later, I can’t ever see myself being without one. I began competing with my first Clumber, Murphy, in Heelwork to Music up to intermediate level in Heelwork and Freestyle. I’ve also Judged in Heelwork to Music competitions since 2017 and I’m currently preparing my 1year old Clumber, Fergal, to begin competing when we are able to get out to competitions again.

Hi everyone. Please see below for the first of our classes!

I hope that some of you will join in our little bit of fun, providing a distraction for those who are perhaps still isolating and affected by this virus. Please enter into the spirit in which this is meant, and let’s have some fun and get together, even if it is only virtually!

Below is our list of novelty classes. Would b great to see some entries from all ages getting involved and having a go. Rules and how to enter will b published later on, once all classes are live. In the mean time, get practising that cool trick with your Clumber, start sewing your fancy dress and honing that great woo-woo ready for entry.

Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever Virtual Open Show (with the inclusion of some fun, novelty classes) and Gundog challenge for all owners of Clumber Spaniels.

This is a light-hearted fun event to help us pass some time while we’re all on restricted activities. There is no charge for entries, there are no prizes but we will be awarding Virtual Rosettes to the Judge’s winners. Dogs can only be entered once in each class but you can enter more than class.

Our judges have very kindly agreed to enter into the spirit of this event and will judge the dogs from the photos and videos you submit and the judge’s decision is final – no ifs or buts!!!

If you are currently self-isolating all photos and videos can be taken indoors or in the garden. For those of you with children to occupy in the coming weeks, hand over your tablets and phones and get them taking photos and videos and if you’re really brave let them handle the dogs (maybe the next generation of show enthusiasts!).

This is a fun event offered to encourage (virtual) contact and interaction between all Clumber owners during this time when our activities are still restricted.

Take care of yourselves and stay well, and keep your eyes peeled for the schedule, to be published soon 👏👏
