Flyball Fun!
We’ve wrapped up Kimchi’s first flyball tournament in Escanaba, MI this weekend, and he had GREAT fun!!
He was only entered in preflights, and we made some awesome progress! We’ve now added jumps and ball retrieves to his turns on the wallboard, so now we really just need to get him turning on the box, add in the rest of the jumps, and get him accustomed to passing other dogs! If I can continue to get him practicing consistently, he’ll be in the lanes doing full runs in no time !!
I’m so excited for his future in this sport, and I loved his engagement and enthusiasm throughout the weekend. He had a rough spot with a spot on the mat that smelled REALLY good, but we worked through it with minimal fuss!
This video is a bunch of clips for the highlights💛
Some Show Ring Practice!
Looking to step into conformation with Kimchi this year—he was entered in a show or two as a puppy and then I decided to put him up for awhile and let him mature, so now it feels like it’s time to get back into it!

Rally Practice!
We’re gearing up and getting ready for our second ever rally trial at the end of the month!
This was an earlier hide that I did walk to the spot where I placed it! I did also walk all around the area creating a bunch of fake trails, though, before I released him to search!
I was TRYING to do this one blind, but… as you can see😆
The goal for this was to throw the antler into an area I had not walked in so he couldn’t rely on my scent trail to find it! Of course, the antler is still going to have my sent on it, but that poses less of an issue than me walking it to where I’m hiding it every time!
Very enthusiastic about retrieves, which is better than having to teach it, but I just keep hearing Ralphie’s mom’s “you’ll shoot your eye out”😆
This one was a successful blind search! He did not see where I threw it, and had only the scent of the antler(plus my scent where I held it, of course) to locate it, and he did! I love watching them actively use their noses🥹
