This is my entry to the plushie contest!! His story is below! 💜✨
Cedar is my favorite spider! He is a Hogna carolinensis, the largest species of wolf spider in the United States! And he’s my go-to Wolfie ambassador since he is one I actually hold regularly! His 2 large front facing eyes with 4 small eyes underneath give him the CUTEST face along with his abnormally long legs! If a “soul spider” is a thing, he’s mine!!! But for this photo design I wanted to give him another unique characteristic & that was his “kaleidoscope” coloring! Naturally he is beautiful to look at BUT this design gives my little web-puppy a fun coloration that matches his amazing personality!!

Chamoy finally decided to get rid of those old PJs and be more comfortable!! (After showing signs of premolt in Feb)
They officially had their first molt with me ❤️ Unfortunately I could not use the molt to help me determine their s*x BUT still no tibial hooks! So I’m hopeful that I may have a girl! ❤️

My gorgeous Sonoran boa boi, Gus! 🖤 Locality boas (Boa imperator) are my FAVORITE snakes to keep! I have Gus, my Sonoran, as well as a few Nicaraguan boas! Keep your eye out for my new enclosure upgrades! My babies are about to be very spoiled sneks 🥰

Some of you may be very tired of seeing Wolf Spiders on my feed, however, I make no apology lol 😂
As I have said many times there isn’t a ton of info out there on Wolf Spiders. So as I learn things & raise more species I want to document everything I can.
The first photo was taken by but I wanted to use it to compare s*xual dimorphism in Hogna carolinensis. This first photo is a female Carolina Wolf Spider. If you look closely you can see her slender pedipalps.
When you scroll to the second photo you can see my male Hogna carolinensis, Cedar. He has “boxing gloves” on the ends of his pedipalps (that’s where the males store their s***m).
Altho the female pictured looks to be a subadult, females also tend to be a bit larger & more robust than the males.
I have a few more larger females arriving in the next couple of weeks so hopefully I’ll get to pair one of them soon!

Here she is! My beautiful big girl from just munching on a cricket 🥰🕷️🖤 I think I’ve settled on naming her, Everest!!
She’s a beautiful female Hogna carolinensis that I’m going to guess is in pre-molt. So fingers crossed that she’ll be ready to pair to Alpine or Cedar after her next molt 🖤

I usually never hold my wolf spiders BUT Cedar decided to go for walkies as I was giving his enclosure a light mist! What a BIG boi he is 🖤
He perched himself there long enough for me to get a photo & then I gently got him to walk onto a leaf in his enclosure.

What a GREAT expo!!! 💖 We didn’t sell a ton but spending a fun day with my family & some of our friends was the best!! However, you were missed (he had to work mandatory OT)! Overall another amazing Expo! Thank you to everyone who came out to talk to us & took home baby spoods! Now I can’t wait til May!

Come see our little mascot, Alpine, modeling his new Large Pro Slider enclosure at the .atlantic.reptile.expo tomorrow!! We will have a bunch of Regal Jumping Spider slings up for adoption as well as custom spood enclosures, spood playgrounds & other goodies!!

Alpine, one of my male H. carolinensis, molted this week! I truly thought he was a full sized male already but I guess I was wrong 😂 Hopefully he’ll be ready for his new gf from when she arrives!! 🥹

My polite boi 🕷️🖤
Cedar is a Hogna carolinensis or Carolina Wolf Spider. They can be found in the US (usually more southern states) and WOW are they fun pets to keep! Due to their speed I don’t usually hold them, but they are fun to watch. And I can usually find them sitting out sunning themselves during the day (which is a nice contrast to my Ts that prefer to hide constantly)!! They are definitely an underrated species of true spiders to keep as pets 🖤 Would you ever consider keeping a Wolf Spider as a pet?!

Lastly we have Syrax 💛
Syrax is a yellow phantom Lilly white crested gecko that I produced. However, what makes this little one so special is that he’s missing ONE toe on each of his little feets!! Obviously due to this he doesn’t climb as well as my other geckos but it hasn’t affected his appetite or growth! He’s definitely one of a kind!!!

Smaug (he’s officially been named) 💙 wanted to show you his pearly whites lol
He has honestly been doing REALLY well with handling! He occasionally nips but it’s not near as often as when I first got him.
He’s just super dramatic about life 😆 But he doesn’t dart out of my hands very often, he barks a lot less and he does let me pet him without biting me! So slow steps 🥹💙
